NINESTARS DZT-50-9 Automatic Touchless Infrared Motion Sensor Trash Can, 13 Gal 50L, Stainless Steel Base (Oval, Silver/Black Lid)

Despite my prior experiences with inside-the-can bag-lips (this is when the lip of the trash can that your garbage bag is hooked around is inside the can, as opposed to the normal outside the can), this can is great! Usually, you have issues with the bag tearing, or not fitting correctly, or even coming loose. However, with this can (13.2 gallon DZT 50-9) the lip works great. The automatic lid is springy and responsive, and gives a satisfying SNAP when the lid shuts. The stainless steel looks great, and it is very easy to wipe down with clorox wipes. After using it for 2 weeks, IT STILL LOOKS LIKE NEW! I cannot be happier with the fact that because no one in my household ever touches the can anymore, it stays perfectly clean!I'm not sure about battery life yet, but so far there hasn't been any drop in performance. My only gripe, is that the opening to the trash can can sometimes feel small. Don't get me wrong, it fits anything in your kitchen you would want to throw in there (milk jugs, boxes, etc.), but let's just say that there's very little extra room. If you look at the product picture, you can see that the actual lid is only a "cutout" lid from the top of the can. Instead of the entire top of the can going up (which my previous can had), only a small portion of the entire top of the can is actually the lid that opens. But I still give it 5/5 stars, which I think illustrates just how small of an issue this really is.I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: I think a potential reason there may be one or two negative reviews for this can is that some buyers may have forgotten to read the manual (but maybe not!). The manual tells you a few things about bag placement and lip usage that decrease the incidence of bag-related issues. I cannot advise you enough to make sure you read the manual on how to put the bag CORRECTLY inside the can. Don't take shortcuts on this, you will tear a bag, and trash will go everywhere. But if you follow their instructions, you (like me) will never have a single issue. The only reason I won't explain how to properly insert the bag in this review, is because the manual includes pictures and does a MUCH better job at explaining it than I ever could. I'm not sure if it's just me, but my first inclination on how to use the removable lip and place the bag in the can was incorrect. After reading the manual's advice, it worked much better.

We've had it for about 5 days now, and I relied heavily on reviews before purchasing. Due to that, I'm going to leave a detailed review for other shoppers. Hope this helps!First, there are SO many trash cans to choose from, with different features and a big price range. I was overwhelmed by it all, so I narrowed it down.I made a list of products that had the criteria I was looking for::: •Stainless steel, •Hands free (actually I had never considered a "fancy" infrared one, so initially I was just looking for a step trash can), •Less than $100, and •13 gallons.I narrowed my list to 10 products, then started review-elimination. I wrote the number of 4-5 star RECENT reviews, the product specifications, and price. I started X-ing products off, and this Nine Stars trash can was the winner!PROS:It arrived quickly. The instructions are clear and it's easy to put it together. (I knew it did not come with batteries, so I bought the Amazon basic pack of C-batteries at the same time.) The open and close buttons are really convenient when you have multiple things to throw away, are emptying a vacuum cleaner, etc. The trash bag is pretty much hidden by the inner ring, and the can is overall very aesthetically pleasing. 13 gallon trash bags fit perfectly. When the lid is shut, any odors inside cannot be smelled. Even with a stinky diaper!CONS(totally not deal-breakers):If you walk too close to the can and some kind of shadow passes over the sensor, it'll open (i.e. arms lifted at your side, wearing a flowy robe or shirt, tall dog sticks nose over it, etc.).Getting the trash bag set in the liner ring to put in the can is tricky at first, but you'll get it after 2 or 3 times. On that note, if too much of the bag is tucked over the liner ring (more than just the top edge of the bag) then it could tear under the top slightly at removal.TIP::: (neither pro nor con) If you have kids, make sure you explain it's a trash can(germs! Only to be used when throwing garbage away) and not a toy, so they won't try to play with it!I've read reviews saying the lid dies right after the one year warranty, so I set an alarm on my calendar to check the lid when it gets close, and I'll send it in to be replaced if I can notice any issues, even slight/minor ones.This concludes my review; I will update in the future if anything changes!UPDATE October 2017: the trash can has a short or something, it randomly started opening and closing on its own just occasionally at first. Now (November 2017) it opens and closes by itself constantly; to try to fix it we’ve replaced the batteries, cleaned the sensor very well (in addition to me regularly cleaning the trash can). We’ve been super busy preparing for the holidays, and had a sudden death in the family, so I hope the seller and/or manufacturer will work with us on getting this worked out. I’ll finish my 1 year update after a possible conclusion.

UPDATE: I haven’t had to change the batteries since I got it. Its been about three months. My kitchen is the size of a shoebox and my butt or arms open that thing about 75% more than regular use would have it opening. And the batteries are still going strong. Fantastic!!Love this trash can. I have a cat that knocked over my old, plain trash can multiple times a day. I tried getting a can with a lid, he got the lid off. I tried putting my trash can on top of the counter where he couldn't get at it. That worked for a month until he figured out how to get to it. So, I knew I had to spring for a trash can like this.WOW am I glad I did. It works exactly as it says, my cat cannot get into it, and I just love it. Every time I use it I am excited to have it and to not have to worry about my trash being all over my kitchen floor every morning.Yes, the sensor is sensitive and will open if you pass it too closely, etc. No big deal to me. I'll pay extra money to keep replacing the batteries (Amazon batteries are really cheap FYI), I don't even mind.Even if you don't have a cat that wants to get at your trash, this is a solid, good looking trash can that does everything they say it does. I love it.

The bin has elevated my kitchen's convenience and hygiene levels. The touchless activation is a game-changer, allowing me to dispose of waste without making contact with the bin, which is a major plus for keeping germs at bay.However, it tends to drain the battery fast! I suggest using a rechargeable battery as it can be costly in the long run. Also, even if you walk side by it, the can will open up which makes it inconvenient with guests around!

Me encantó! Tenía dudas del tamaño pero está perfecto (pongo la comparación con la garrafita de 6 litros de Bonafont). Los colores están súper bonitos, el color de la tapa es gris obscuro, no tan negro como aparece en las fotos. No tiene bote adentro como otros, tiene el anillo que es súper práctico para poner las bolsas y sacar la basura sería súper fácil. No se abre si estás pasando cerca y eso también me preocupaba. Compré las bolsas biodegradables de la marca We Care también vendidas aquí en medida de 90cm y le quedaron perfectas. Responde muy bien a la apertura, es muy silencioso, el tamaño de apertura no es nada pequeño, luce muy bien! Lo atrapé con un mega precio de $1,500 pesos y con entrega al día siguiente. Recomendado 100%.

Excellent product

Es muy practico y elegante, si bien es meramente algo fancy ahorra esfuerzo y hace tener una mejor vista.El único tema es que utiliza pilas y eso lo hace un poco molesto

Totally Amazing. We bought one of these 10 years ago and just recently it stopped working (more like acting up). For these past 10 years this trash can had been working great. We actually bought the set of two and the other one is still working. I talked to Support and they suggested that we try a reset. After doing this the Trash can worked sporadically. In the meantime, I bought another one and this one is working just fine. This one uses fewer batteries (3 Cs instead of 4 Ds) than the original. It arrived in just a few days. I didn't realize how many times one puts things in the garbage during a given day and this sure beats the step ons. This trash can is a good size and we can get lots of garbage in before we have to change the bag.
