Good balance of features but woeful instructions
I've already reviewed an indoor maglock for Vine and was therefore pleasantly surprised to find that this one, waterproofing and all, was no larger. Some reviewers have said that it isn't powerful enough for larger gates; I can't comment on that, but for what I have in mind (an invisible lock on the inside of a damp outdoor storage building with a normal "front door" sized entrance) it looks to be plenty strong enough. Be aware that these things are heavy by nature! Depending on where you site it, you may need to be happy using wall fixings of various types. You don't want it falling on your head or simply getting wrenched out when someone suspicious gives the door a tug. Also be aware that this won't work straight out of the box; you get the mounting brackets for the lock itself, but you'll need to buy a separate DC power supply adaptor - you can choose either 12V or 24V - plus whatever unlocking mechanism you want to put into the circuit, eg standard switch, push button, keypad, whatever. As others have noted, the instructions are essentially nonexistent; there's nothing here to help the uninitiated choose their power supply adapter for example - what amperage it needs to be able to handle, for example. That's unhelpful. Typically, though, you'll need less than 1 amp; the internal lock I've got draws 0.25A on 24V or 0.5A on 12V. This unit definitely doesn't need the 400A your car starter requires! It isn't automatically variable voltage (ie you need to manually configure for either 12V or 24V); you need to connect wires on the unit together and into the adapter in different configurations for this. That, at least, is shown in diagram form on a bit of paper in the box. Also not explained (and may not be applicable) is the warning carried in the instructions of my other maglock, namely that if you place the switch between your 240V supply and the adapter, when power is cut there may be some residual magnetism remaining in the coils which will delay door release; for this reason you should place your switching mechanism within the 12V/24V section of the setup, ie between adapter and maglock. As I say, this might not apply to this lock, but it would be nice to know. One final note: this is not appropriate for high security environments as it will "fail open", ie if the power is cut, the door is released. This is an important safety feature where (for example) security doors are also fire exits, but not so good if you absolutely must maintain a lock no matter what happens. That's not a criticism, however. It's just what it is. So: five stars for the product, but one star off for the unnecessary frustration the lack of instructions will cause to the casual buyer and DIYer. Such an easy thing to rectify, so why not?

Weak lock.
The gate can easily be opened with a little push! Also bear in mind that this is a fail-safe system the needs continuous power.

Great
This is a solid door lock which I has used to secure our outhouse. It needed to be secure but also weatherproof as it was going on the outside. Installation was easy and i’ve connected it to a smartplug which knows when we are home or not. It locks when we are out and overnight, then unlocks the next morning. No more needing to worry if the doors locked. Great product even if it is a bit pricey

No instructions.
I have a side gate leading to steps that go up the side of my house to the back garden. The gate handle is secured to a wall by one small fitting. I was really hoping that this lock would make my house and garden a bit more secure. The lock arrived in a plain white box and I was taken aback at just how heavy it is. In fact, it’s so heavy that I’m not sure that my old metal gate will accommodate it. The attached photos show the only documentation that arrived with the item; there are no fitting instructions so I haven’t a clue how to fit or operate it.
