beyerdynamic DT 1990 PRO MKII - Open Studio Reference Headphones

Honestly, worth every penny. These have been an absolute game changer for my music making. Whilst I would love closed-backs for making music in louder spaces, the benefit of much richer bass is harder to miss on these. As a step up from the 770 and 990, these genuinely are worth it if you have the cash. They're super flat - maybe a little brighter and slight energy in the mid-low (100Hz - 130Hz) is a little pokey, they really have helped me find time with my laptop and soundcard to make music away from the studio. Great headphones.

Even right out the box these are fantastically clear without overly boosting the high end. Massive improvement over my 990s and 770s. From a gaming perspective, the sound staging is incredible allowing me to hear more accurately where enemies are in FPS games and more distinction between different SFX that conveys information to me. From a music production, mixing and mastering perspective, they required a bit more balancing through EQ (I use Equaliser APO on windows with recommended settings from online) just to flatten them a bit. Most notable thing I picked up is how clear my reverb sounded in mixes and easier to hear where clarity issues in my mix were. I can't really compare these to the MK1s since I never owned a pair however the general consensus online is clearer high end details without just increasing volume

The Beyer Dynamic DT1990 Mark 2 headphones are quite simply the best I have ever heard. They are very comfortable. They have deep and tight bass, a clear and concise midrange and and an airy, open and detailed treble that is never in any way ever sibilant. They have a wide and 3 dimensional sound stage and sound big and spacious. As well as this they are also much easier to drive with portable players as they are now only 30 ohms as opposed to 250 ohms which the mark 1 version is. They are as good as speakers at £3000 to £4000. I cannot recommend these headphones highly enough. They are in a nutshell simply excellent.

This headphone is nothing short of excellent value for money, and not just for the studio usage it is designed for. I am not a professional and forcthis money I struggle to think of a more resolving or dynamic headphone. In my opinion, also the treble blamed by some reviewers with very young ears, is great. It enables it to sound as detailed as it does, something that, for example, the Sennheiser HD660S2 can't match. Is the DT1990 Mk2 clinical, cold and abrasive? Not at all. But here is a word of caution: neither was the revision 1. If you already own the first version of DT1990 Pro, in my experience you don't need the mk2 which sounds essentially identical. There are just minute differences which may be due to unit variation, or even to the fact that my Mk1 is 5y old and well-used, while this Mk2 was new open box (so not unused). I am returning it for this reason, not for any fault of this headphone which I am rating without hesitaton 5 star.

Wow ... chalk and cheese between anything I've had previously. I'm a Bass player and the bass audio quality through these is incredible... I just need to get my bass playing up to same standard .....!!

Arrived quickly, beautifully packaged with easy start instructions. These headphones give the most detailed sound I think I have ever heard. With almost every album I have listened to so far, I have heard some detail that I haven't heard before. The overall sound is neutral and very clear to my ears, not bass heavy compared to other headphones I have had in the past, but the heartbeats at the start of Dark Side of the Moon are clear and deep! These are serious headphones, very well built, comfortable to wear for a couple of hours at least. They are cable-only connection, no bluetooth or NC software. One niggle only. The connection between the cable and phones is a kind of mini-Din three-pin plug. This is a very tight fit into the socket on the phones, insertion not too bad, but removing takes a pretty strong pull to get the cable out and you have to also press a minuscule locking button at the same time, so I have just left the 5m coiled cable attached. There is a shorter flat cable included, plus an additional set of ear pads, designed for "monitoring". You can buy some very nice, bluetooth/NC enables phones for this price, and I have such a pair. But the overall sound quality, preciseness of soundstage and the sheer depth of detail that these DT1990s give just out-perform anything I have heard to date. .

They sound awfull at high frequency cymbals sizzle or fizz not right i have other headphones they are ok also there is little bass on these for a so called studio headphone iwould not pay £50 for them

de geluid is goed voor streaming and gaming en ook voor film en muziek luisteren. dit waren goed nadeel was de kabel die aangesloten is op headset is lastig om te bewegen. en de doos van headset is beschadigd.

Simplesmente incrível. Comparando com meu DT770, é muito melhor em tudo - detalhamento, clareza de agudos, sub-graves e espacialidade. Uso para ouvir música (arquivos locais e streaming Ultra HD pela Amazon Music) e para jogar. É um fone com muito mais "cor" que os Sennheiser, que tem um perfil mais analítico, e eu amei isso. Acredito que é o melhor que se pode comprar sem chegar no vale do placebo. Não usei nenhum tipo de equalizador (nem nativo da DAC nem Equalizer APO) pois a assinatura sonora me agradou instantaneamente, lembrando muito o que meus IEMs de referência conseguem entregar. Não notei nenhum tipo de peak de frequências, distorções nem faixas "emboladas". Recomendadíssimo. Obs: testado usando uma DAC Topping DX5 II. Mesmo sendo "fácil" de empurrar devido a poucos Ohms, é importante tem um Amp decente. Obs2: vendedor EXCELENTE. Parabéns pela rapidez de resposta e acompanhamento do pedido!

Le Beyerdynamic DT 1990 Pro MKII sono semplicemente perfette. Le ho provate abbinandole al Rodecaster Pro II e devo dire che, nonostante il mixer abbia un leggero rumore di fondo con cuffie a bassa impedenza come queste da 30 ohm, le cuffie di per sé sono spettacolari. Rispetto alle vecchie DT 990 Pro sono migliorate sotto ogni punto di vista: suono più bilanciato, dettagli finissimi, scena sonora ampia e precisa, comfort eccellente anche dopo ore di utilizzo. Sono cuffie di riferimento che non deludono mai, sia per mixing che per ascolto critico. Se cercate un paio di open-back professionali di alto livello, queste sono tra le migliori in circolazione.

The DT 1990 Pro MK II are a clear and significant upgrade over the DT 990 Pro 250 ohm(i had them in the past 4 years) in every meaningful way. The level of detail, separation and overall resolution is immediately noticeable, especially in complex music and gaming scenarios. Soundstage is not just wide, but far more precise and controlled, offering excellent imaging and positioning. Bass is tighter and better defined, mids are cleaner, and the treble is refined without losing the Beyerdynamic character. Build quality feels truly professional and durable, designed for long-term use. Comfort is excellent even during extended listening sessions. Paired with a proper amplifier (i have Fiio K7), these headphones truly shine. Beyerdynamic once again proves their professionalism and commitment to HIGH-END audio. Highly recommended !
