Excellent switch for the money
It's been in service for almost 1 year now and have not had any issues with it. Works very well.

Prone to fail speed control failure.
This model has a flaw with the fan. About 3 weeks after I purchased it, the fan suddenly ramped up to 100% speed at all times and was extremely loud. After a lengthy support process, it was RMA'd and the new unit worked correctly. Until about 9 months later, when it too experienced the same glitch with max fan speed and extreme noise levels. Even after unplugging and and letting it cool down completely, then powering it up with NO load resulted in constant maximum fan speed. Either the fan speed controller or temperature sensor that controls it is faulty and prone to breaking down. I have replaced it with an Omada SG3428X-M2 which costs less, has the same number of ports, is more powerful, and is extremely quiet. Buy that instead. I am giving it 2 stars rather than 1 because other than the fan issue and availability of a better unit for less money, this switch DID work correctly and at the advertised speeds.

Great switch. Not very easy to configure
This really is a great switch. Only complaint is the web interface and documentation. I personally don't find the interface easy to understand (the docs are ok as far as it goes, but there are no use cases on WHY you would use a feature or not. I have pretty much "sorta mastered" the interface at this point, but it wasn't easy. Still, for the price, a great swtich!

Early failure and poor support.
The switch is having multiple connection issues approximately 7 months into deployment. TRENDnet support recommends making some configuration changes that DO NOT exist in the firmware. When asked for an alternative solution to change this setting for fix the issues, TRENDnet has gone silent. I would like to return is for repairs/replacement, but there is no response. I can understand infancy failures, but I cannot understand the poor customer support. I will be reconsidering using TRENDnet equipment on any future upgrades.

Got sent Used product.
Got sent used product. The previous owner still had a “WAN-SD” printed label on it. This was supposed to be brand new. Lifetime warranty is not valid if it's used.
