Gemplers Steel Rake Hoe

Excellent tool for building mountain bike trails. Works well with roots and rocks. Works perfectly for cutting in edges and busting up the soil with rocks. Love the long handle as it prevents me from having to bend over as much if I were using a pick ax and this tool work as good if not better. Have 10 hours or so of use with it and pleased so far and it’s getting abused and holding up fine. Update- originally gave it 5 star but a month or more and around 40-50hrs of trail building and the handle broke off in the metal hoe part itself. Seems to be a weak spot due to the 2 rivots they’ve used to hold the handle into the hoe. Trying to get a replacement but their process isn’t easy and Amazon help is useless. Tool needs a stainless handle or such as the wood or fiberglass handles just aren’t cutting it as far as longevity. Joe head itself is fantastic! Will most likely cut the handle down and just use for now until I can find a metal handle replacement that won’t break.

Great product! The length of handle is really a plus. Cleared a 20' grass & weed circle for a controlled burn with ease. I was sore, alot, but the tool worked great. Super for trail building. The rake side enabled clearing of ground vines and poison oak very well. I learned the hoe side is not an axe, it will not cut 1" roots, just shakes the crap outta the handle. It's clearly stated in the description; it's a hoe with a heavy-duty rake. Great for clearing land.

The tool is great, the wood handle is absolute junk. Not only did it break in half the first day i used it, i continued to use the 1/2 handle it had left and then that portion broke. Dont waste your time buying.

This is an amazing tool perfect for trail building. I’m making mountain bike trails behind and around my house and this tool is essential. Makes moving dirt so much easier. Packing it down after for a good solid trail. Best purchase I’ve made in a long time.
