Well made - suitable for smaller threads
These 2nd generation #3 tools appear to be very well made. They make diamond-shaped slits that are suitable for smaller projects which require smaller threads (i.e. 0.50mm) and smaller harness needles (i.e. John James size 004, or CS Osborne 517-3). I am satisfied with them and are a good value.

very good quality for the price
I am very happy with the quality and performance. Easily went through the leather and was easy to pull out.

Excellent value
Very good for the price. If you're just starting out these are unbeatable and even if you've already dipped your toes in the water these will be a decent addition to your collection if you have use for them. Very sharp. .45 thread looks pretty good, .55 was a little tight.

Cracks, rounded tops
Even though these are budget, I'm a bit disappointed at the quality. Theyve got cracks, horizontal, on them. And it just leaves me doubtful as to if they'll last even a little bit.ย And then, these have a rounded top, which is hard to see from the picture. I know why they did this, it's similar to the rounded stamp hammers, but when I hit my punch, I want a clean direct hit that's not going to bounce, roll, or otherwise redirect force unevenly on the tines. Just gonna make uneven stitching holes ... All my other pricking irons or punches have flat tops. KS blade, sinabroks. I just didn't want to pay the premium for a small project right now.ย I guess you live and learn. Also, they are all different lengths, like the 4 tine is 95 mm the 6 prong is 99mm, and the others are different.
