Never Flinch: A Novel

Good read. Half the fun lies in the quality of publishing. Hodder and Stoughton have done a good job with the size of the book and the font size. Nice page quality as well.

Just started reading this new presentation from Mr. King. Thankful to Amazon for the fast service. But I will appreciate receiving paperback copies in hardboxes in future to protect the corners.

Had to force myself to go slow near the end because I didn’t want the book to be over but also had to know how it ended! Know the feeling?

This is a very interesting book,the build up is fantastic. A must read for Stephen King fans

This book is mind-blowing. Everything that was happening in this book kept me on the edge. Characters were intriguing and mysterious. This is a multilayered story. Buckeye City Police Department receives a mysterious and disturbing letter. Someone threatens them to kill the innocent people under the act of atonement. Such things can only come from twisted and disturbing minds. Detective Izzy wants to get to the bottom of this. She wants to know the person who is behind all these unhinged acts. So, as the mystery unfolds, infinite layers of suspense encapsulates with buried truth, secrets and shocking revelations. Well, someone is also targeting women’s rights activist because they disagree with their opinion/messages of female empowerment. Izzy takes the help of Holly Gibeney. And Holly has been assigned the job to protect Kate, women’s rights activist as well. I loved how they drew connection and solved the mysteries. So, I loved that author has splattered light upon such a crucial subject. Also loved the perspectives in this book and how the character’s childhood shaped the person who was behind the unhinged act/doings. The ending was chilling and unpredictable. I didn’t see the twists coming This is a must read.

I took a lot of time finishing this book and to be honest , the book deserved all my time and attention. The book doesn't have a single plot , it has layers of plot . There are multiple storylines and the way these storylines merge in the end is so satisfying. The book features two cases . While Holly's friend Izzy has to deal with a vigilante threat that threatens to kill 13 innocents and 1 guilty , Holly has to deal with a stalker case. Holly is hired as a bodyguard to Kate McKay , a feminist activist who is being threatened by religious extremists. These storylines run parallel to each other interconnecting in a tense climax . Core Theme includes Justice vs Extremism , Trauma , Fatherhood and Vengeance and Feminism. It talks about reproductive rights of women , protest movement and cultural debates . The theme makes the novel more relevant in contemporary settings of the world . Holly shines in this novel . The book pairs crime thrillers with a strong moral core. It will keep one hooked till the end . Also , if you're someone who juggles multiple books simultaneously,I advise you against it . This book requires your full undivided attention. É um Stephen King com escrita envolvente e tema conectado ao mundo contemporâneo (sociedade fragmentada, intolerância, discursos de ódio, etc). O livro é arrastado e lento com trama bem bobinha. Pela nota ao final do livro, nem o próprio Stephen King gostou do resultado. Leia só se for obcecado por SK. Se eu pudesse dava 2,5 estrelas.

Trig has in mind killing a number of people to represent the jurors and legal people responsible for a wrong conviction of someone murdered in prison. Detective Isabelle Jaynes, investigating the early murders, asks her friend Holly Gibney for intuitive input. At the same time Kate McCay, pro-choice advocate and comedic rabble-rousing performer, engages a reluctant Holly as a bodyguard after there are pro-life attempts on her life. And one of the venues will see the comeback of legendary soul-singer Sista Bessie. This is a straightforward crime novel, with a terrific race against time climax, winding the separate threads together. There are some elements of coincidence involved, but King's writing is so good that these are easily accepted. Unusually for King, there is a fairly strong and obvious (pro-choice) subtext, although this is watered down by the fact that its main proponent isn't very sympathetic. It had one sequence - Holly watching a performance on stage - which was beautifully emotional.

Another masterpiece from the master story teller. I would love to meet Stephen King in person and hear him speak as I am sure he is even spookier in person.
