More Than an Alarm Clock—A Complete Sleep Solution
I don’t usually write reviews, but the Hatch Restore 3 has honestly been one of the best purchases I’ve made for my sleep and overall routine. First off, the design is beautiful—minimal, modern, and it actually looks aesthetically pleasing (which is rare for tech). But what really makes it worth it is how thoughtfully it’s designed for better sleep. The sunset feature at night has completely changed the way I wind down. Instead of scrolling on my phone, I now have a gentle, gradual dimming light paired with calming sounds that signal to my body that it’s time to rest. It’s helped me fall asleep faster and feel more relaxed at bedtime. The sunrise alarm is just as impressive. Waking up to gradually brightening light instead of a blaring alarm has made my mornings feel so much less jarring. I feel more refreshed and less groggy, which is something I didn’t think a device could actually fix. I also love how customizable everything is—from light colors to soundscapes to routines. You can really tailor it to what works best for you. The sound quality is great too, whether you’re using white noise, nature sounds, or guided meditations. One thing I didn’t expect to love as much as I do is having a consistent nighttime and morning routine built in. It’s helped me be more intentional about sleep, which has made a noticeable difference in my energy levels during the day. If I had to mention a downside, it would be the subscription for full access to content—but honestly, I’ve found it worth it for how much I use it. Overall, the Hatch Restore 3 feels like more than just an alarm clock—it’s a full sleep system. If you’re struggling with winding down at night or waking up feeling exhausted, I would 100% recommend it.

Helped With Sleep Schedule
I've had the Hatch for almost a month now and it has definitely helped my sleep a lot! As someone who struggles a lot with falling asleep, I've tried a few different things that haven't worked, and the Hatch routines have already made a difference. It was very easy to customize the routine, and having the cue to help start the routine has really helped keep me on a better sleep schedule. I wish the box had come with more instructions as I've been figuring out a lot through the app & tiktok videos, but it has been quite easy to set up my custom routines once I got the hang of it. I love the amount of customizable features with the lights and sounds (as shown in the photo) and in addition to being functional, I love that it makes a cute addition to my nightstand :)

Absolutely Worth Every Penny!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Addition to My Nighttime Routine I’ve been using the Hatch Restore 3 for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed. The sunrise alarm makes waking up feel much more natural, and the white noise helps me fall asleep faster without reaching for my phone. I also love how simple and elegant it looks on my nightstand—it blends in perfectly with my bedroom. The setup was quick, and the app is easy to use. It’s definitely more expensive than a regular alarm clock, but the quality and features make it worth the investment. If you’re trying to improve your sleep habits or just want a more relaxing bedtime routine, I highly recommend it!

Buy it right now!
I really love this Hatch Restore 3. I was a little nervous about spending so much on what is essentially a white noise machine, but it has been absolutely worth it. The sound quality is great, and unlike many white noise machines, I haven’t noticed any obvious loops or repeating sounds that drive me crazy. The alarm feature is one of my favorite parts—it wakes me up with gentle sounds instead of a harsh alarm that makes me dread getting out of bed. I also love the clock display. It dims automatically at night, which is perfect because I need a dark room to sleep, but it's still easy to see when needed. Another huge perk is the built-in reading light/night light. I love to read before bed, and having the light built right into the device saves space on my nightstand and eliminates the need for an extra lamp. Overall, I’m extremely happy with this purchase. It’s thoughtfully designed, works exactly as advertised, and has made my bedtime and morning routines much more enjoyable. Highly recommend—it’s worth the money!

Better Sleep Habits
I purchased this during prime day because I wanted to get better about my sleep hygiene. I struggle to stay asleep and thought this might be helpful. First, I love the putty color. It looks nice and doesn’t look like a traditional alarm clock. Second, I am really liking the reminder to turn off devices and get ready for bed. I need that que to put down the electronics and stop. Third, audio books being read are so entertaining yet soothing. I am loving listening to the classics that I would never normally read. I like that you can adjust the volume to what works best for you. Some of the audio books are louder than others. Finally, the Navy White Noise puts me to sleep. It is soothing and peaceful. I still wake up around 3 or 4am, but I am better able to fall back to sleep. For wake up, I am still getting used to the bright light and bird sounds. It is not jarring like an alarm, which I love. What I am struggling with is actually getting out of bed when I wake. I start scrolling and then an hour goes by. I need to be more disciplined. Overall I like the change this is making in my sleep routine.

Beautiful design, better sleep!
I absolutely love the Hatch Restore 3! I wasn’t sure it would be worth the investment, but after using it for a few weeks, I can honestly say it’s become part of my nightly routine. The sunset feature helps me wind down naturally, and waking up to a gradual sunrise is so much better than being jolted awake by a loud alarm. The sound quality is excellent, and there are so many relaxing sleep sounds and guided wind-down options to choose from. The app is intuitive, making it easy to customize different bedtime and morning routines. It also looks beautiful on my nightstand—minimalistic and modern without taking up much space. If you’re looking to improve your sleep habits or make waking up feel less stressful, I highly recommend the Hatch Restore 3. It’s one of those products I didn’t realize I needed until I had it!

Better after tweaking
Edit 12/6/2025: I did some brainstorming for how to get around the problems I had, and tried it out for a few days. In the process I ended up finding some solutions that I felt worked very well and were worth sharing. If I set up the cue and just leave it running, it will keep going until I start the unwind routine. That works well enough for a bedtime reminder that doesn't go away. My biggest issue was not being to set the time for things in the "undwind" part, since I use that to be aware of how long I've been awake (IF I've been awake too long). I've gotten around this by setting up several of the fixed time unwind steps together, so they'll play one after another and the combined time is close to what I'm looking for. Based on my experiments, this actually works quite well. One of the limitations of the process I was using before (setting audible to run for a set amount of time on my phone) was that you can't really set up anything to play in a list--you'd have to fiddle with your phone again to fix it if you needed anything extra before/after the story. With this, I can set a 5 or 10 minute meditation, and then a 30 ish minute sleep story for after I've relaxed more. I still think there should be more flexibility in how you can set things up--setting the amount of time the alarm goes off, or the snooze time, or being able to use sounds from different categories for other steps would be useful. It is also expensive and susbscription based for the full experience. And I also highly recommend setting it up well in advance of bedtime with a lot of time to play around and test sounds on the device, because you don't want to set something up and have it wake you up on accident because of the volume you left it at. But the sounds are very high quality, and I've found I like the set up after I've tweaked it to suit my needs better. With that in mind, I'm going to bump my review up a star. A suggestion for the developers--you might be able to reduce friction like this if you included some examples (maybe a video?) of how people might use the alarm in somewhat different ways. I like to do everything else I need before bed while the cue is playing, then come back, press the button, and listen to the meditation while I'm in bed. Then it proceeds to a short story, and then some extra music that goes for a set amount of time, so I know how long I've been awake if I hear it end. I'm guessing that maybe some people listen to some of their sounds/meditations outside of bed, and they might have only one sound per step or they could have a bunch. Some people may have it right next to their bedside, while others (like me) might have it away from their bed so that it encourages them to get up in the morning. It didn't really occur to me when I first got this that I could use it in the way that I am now. Seeing some examples of different ways people used it might've prevented some of my initial frustration. Original: I wanted to like this. I got this because I thought it would assist with my attempt to no longer use my phone as an alarm and just use a sunrise alarm. But for an alarm that's so expensive AND requires a subscription to get full use out of, it's remarkably feature poor. It has different steps for bedtime and wake up--cue to unwind, unwind, and sleep, and wake up. I liked the idea of this, but how they have it structured is very restrictive and isn't what I was looking for. You can't choose whichever audio you want for each step in their process. They have specific audio for each of their steps, and you can't mix them which is frustrating because if you could you might actually be able to make some good flexible bedtime routines. You're stuck with whatever they think belongs in each category. Also I think their library all of the time, which might be good in some ways, but won't that mean that the things I like will be going away as well? Good bedtimes are all about consistency so why such a focus on changing everything? You can't control how long anything other than the sleep step plays for. If you want your "unwind" step to only play for 5 minutes, or to play for 45 minutes, you'd need to get up and manually set it or fiddle with your phone while it's playing and you were trying to sleep. Unless there's a feature that's hidden somewhere? I don't think so, though. The steps generally say "this is a fixed duration". I use sleep stories to both help relax and let me know how long it's taken me to fall asleep, so being unable to control it at all is a problem. You can't schedule anything other than the alarm and your "cue", which I don't think you even get unless you're a plus subscriber. If you wanted this to double as a lamp with a scheduled on and off time to assist with going to bed, you can't. You can't even schedule your unwind to start at a certain time. You must walk up to it and press a button or start it from the app (not good for trying to get off of phone). I don't think you can even adjust how long your alarm will ring, snooze time, whether the snooze stops the light or the sound or both. The app also often has long response times and takes a long time to save changes. Overall: It's a sunrise alarm. The light is good, and some of the sounds offered are interesting. It's very expensive and requires a subscription for full functionality, when there are other sunrise alarms out there for half of the price (or even less) that are more flexible. I feel very disappointed in it and I'm thinking about returning it. If you are from Hatch and see that I'm wrong about the features, please let me know. I wanted to like it. Not being able to set the duration of steps, not being able to schedule times of different steps, not being able to select what sounds I'd like for each step (why can't I start some of the sleep sounds inside the unwind step? having them start out of the blue after unwind will end up waking me up), and not being able to adjust basic things like snooze and alarm duration time are kind of deal breakers for me. This is functionality that exists in much cheaper models. I get the feeling that a lot of the positive reviews are from people who've never used a smart sunrise alarm before.

Two AuDHD adults, two Restore 3s, zero regrets
If you've ever laid in bed staring at the ceiling while a smart speaker cut out mid-rainstorm, or fought a $25 Amazon sound machine with mediocre sound quality that you had to manually start and stop every single night, this review is for you. My wife and I both have AuDHD, and sound at night isn't a preference, it's the difference between a night of sleep and a night of our brains refusing to shut up. Over the years we've run the gauntlet: Alexa with scheduled rain routines, a Google Home doing the same thing, and eventually a cheap $20–$30 sound machine off Amazon when we got tired of the smart speakers dropping audio every time the internet hiccuped. Each one had a fatal flaw. The smart speakers couldn't be trusted to actually play through the night. The cheap sound machine was reliable but had to be manually started and stopped every single night, and the sound quality was, being generous, about on par with a Google Home speaker. Then I bought a Hatch Restore 3 in late 2024, and the story changed. I used mine solo for about a year while my wife stuck with the cheap Amazon unit. This was her choice. She didn't think that the Hatch would provide much difference in sleep quality. Then one night she slept on my side of the bed. The next morning, she all but demanded I get her one of her own. The sound quality had put her into a depth of sleep she hadn't hit in years. We now have two Restore 3s on the nightstands, both in Cocoa. What actually makes it work: Sound: We both use Green Noise as our sleep sound, and it does something specific for an AuDHD brain that rain and white noise never quite did. It shuts down the overthinking center and lulls you down. The speaker is genuinely high quality, not a rebadged cheap driver, and because the core sounds are stored on the device itself, a flaky internet connection doesn't cut playback the way it did with our Google Homes. It just plays. The rise routine: This is where the Hatch earns its price tag. My current setup is a ten-minute sunrise on the Portland Lighthouse light preset, with Fisherman's Wharf (seagulls, water) as the wake audio. It ramps gently instead of detonating like an iPhone alarm. I rotate the light and sound combinations based on mood, which keeps it from going stale. Hold-to-dismiss + the light: This is the feature that changed my wife's mornings. Her pattern used to be: hear phone alarm, roll over, slap dismiss, fall back asleep with zero memory of having done it. With the Hatch, she gets two sensory streams at once, ten minutes of building light plus gentle sound, and by the time she reaches to dismiss, she actually has to hold the button. That extra second of required physical engagement means she's cognitively awake when she turns it off, not reflexively swatting at it. Look and feel: The Cocoa finish is genuinely nice, soft-touch plastic, understated, doesn't scream "gadget" on the nightstand. A few honest gripes: The alarm and schedule setup lives entirely in the app. The device has physical buttons for volume, brightness, pause/advance, and a quick alarm disable, but building or editing a routine requires your phone. If you're shopping for a simple, self-contained clock, this is the wrong product. For anyone already comfortable with app-managed devices, it's a non-issue, but it's worth calling out. My bigger wish is device linking. With two units in the same room, each alarm is managed independently. When one of us dismisses ours, the other keeps going. It's manageable, but I'd pay for a "paired bedroom" mode tomorrow. (Possible I'm missing it in settings, but I've looked.) We also had the six-month Hatch+ trial and used it for a while. The sleep stories and guided meditations are well produced, and I'd recommend them to anyone without an established wind-down routine. For us, we already have our own ritual, a separate galaxy light goes on as part of the lead-in, and we do our own meditations, so Hatch+ didn't stick. The good news is you don't need it. The built-in sounds, Green Noise, Portland Lighthouse, Fisherman's Wharf, the basics, are exactly what we use and they're included. That's the review. When a device quietly replaces three previous solutions, when your partner sleeps on it once and demands one of her own, when it becomes the thing you trust to actually run the routine every night without babysitting, you stop thinking about it. That's the highest compliment I can give a product at this price point. Photos/Video description: 1. Size comparing two Restore 3's on a night stand next to a 3 device MagSafe charger, bedside fan, lamp. You can have a clock on the Restore 3 as well as seen in the image. 2-4. Such a game changer—especially in the winter!
We’ve been using the Hatch Restore 3 for a few months now, and I can confidently say it’s made a huge difference in how I wake up each morning. There’s a bit of a learning curve at first, just because there are so many lighting and sound options to explore! It’s really customizable and easy to tailor to your own routines and preferences. Where it’s really been a lifesaver is during the winter months here in Canada. Waking up in the pitch black is brutal, but the gentle sunrise feature has made those mornings so much more bearable. It feels way more natural and less jarring than a regular alarm. Bonus: even our dog loves it! As soon as the wind-down music and soft “northern lights” colours come on at night, he trots over and settles in. Highly recommend this clock for anyone looking to improve their sleep routine—especially if you live in a place with long, dark winters.

Misleading and disappointing
Very disappointing. The hardware is good but the app is unusable. There is a lot of potential in this product but they will only realise it when they throw out the current app and rebuild it with ease of use and flexibility in mind. Honestly this industry is begging for a competitor to come in and show us how this can be done well. Unfortunately Hatch is not that (yet? 🤞). I'd love to return my Hatch 3 and wait for that competitor, maybe they never come but this $200 disappointment is not bringing me any joy.

Love it, worth the hype
Love this clock. It has made my morning wake up so much smoother, no jarring alarm. The ability to customize the length of the sunrise allows me to just look and see if it’s begun to know if I should go back to sleep. It facilitates habits of waking up at the same time. I have no complaints
