I'm sending it back.Update 6-17-10. I decided to keep this shell carrier because I couldn't find anything similar that I liked. I ended up cutting each shell loop on my bandsaw to relieve the excessive grip on the shells. All stay put, even under pretty agressive use. The shells could be pryed out sideways if they were to get caught on something, but it takes quite a lot of force to make that happen. I may make a second mod by adhearing an elastic strip over the outside of each loop to ensure the shells can't be pryed out sideways, but I want to continue as is to see if adding the strip is really needed. This is a great product it's nicely made and does not feel cheap at all. It's worth every penny makes my mossberg 88 look 10 times better. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Poor quality contol mars an otherwise good product *by J***S on Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2018* The TacStar railmount and sidesaddle arrived with one screw cammed out. That was obvious upon visual inspection of the item. Rubbing the screw head with my finger revealed sharp raised metal points that were ready to scratch the finish on my shotgun. I removed the screw and filed the head to remove the sharp points. That left shiny spots around the cross opening but it's not visible when mounted so that's okay with me. Fitting the mount to my Mossberg Maverick 88 took five minutes from start to finish. The instructions were spot-on for mounting. The sidesaddle rings ranged from tight to 'Are you kidding me?'. I had to use both hands to insert and remove shells from the first two rings and it wasn't easy. The rest of the rings were tight but allowed insertion and removal with steady heavy pressure. I expected a snug fit but this is ridiculous. You can't depend on getting shells out of this device in a survival situation. Fixing the mold for the sidesaddle should be a simple fix for the manufacturer. I get that shells have to be snug because dropping them is unacceptable. But having a fit tight enough to require lube is another matter. Aside from the screw mishap and shell fittings, the mount is made of quality materials and fit my shotgun well. Perhaps prolonged use with shells will expand the sidesaddle rings. If so, this moves up to a four-star item.Pros- Solid materials and made in USA (according to packaging)- Fits Mossberg Maverick 88 and the 500 & 590 shotguns- Provides a rail for accessories- Mounting hardware included- Accurate and easy to follow instructionsCons- Poor quality control. The cammed out screw should have been replaced before this item was ready for purchase.- Freaking tight sidesaddle.
