Huge external HDD great for backing up tons of data
It's a big external HD. It's big. It's external. It's a Hard Drive. Need a lot of space on one external drive? Then get this. I've only had it about a week, but it seems to work just fine. It makes no noise when not in use. It makes minor/minimal sounds when copying large amounts of data to it. It makes a noticeable brief buzzing sound when 'waking' from standby that only lasts 2-3 seconds. Did I say this was external? Did I say it has a high capacity? Did I say it is a hard drive? Oh, the design is black and stands on its side, and doesn't give off any noticeable heat. As for speed, beats me. Seemed normal speed. Reality is that any time you get a drive this large, the primary purpose is likely as a backup - or a backup to a backup, and the only time speed might matter in that case is the first time you're backing up a large amount of data. After that, I'm sure you'd never notice either way. I'm happy I bought it. I got it at price/GB that is impossible to beat. Would buy again - but won't need to any time soon, because it's big. (Did I mention that already?)

Ton of space, reasonable price, occasional noise
I recently picked up a 22TB external hard drive, and so far it’s been a great value for amount of storage you get. The capacity is huge for the price, which makes it appealing option if you need a lot of space without spending a fortune. Physically, it’s a typical external drive—nothing oversized or bulky—so it fits easily on a desk or shelf. One thing to note, though: it can get a bit loud at times. I wouldn’t recommend keeping it running full‑time in a quiet space like a bedroom office unless you don’t mind some background noise. My main use is offsite backups, so I only plug it in for short periods. Because of that, it’s too early to say much about long‑term reliability. Performance‑wise, it’s not the fastest drive out there, but it’s perfectly adequate for backup tasks and general storage. Overall, if you need a ton of space at a reasonable price and don’t mind occasional noise, it’s a strong choice.

It does the job well
I have several smaller hard drives I use to store photos and old files but they are getting old and it is hard to organize files, especially photos across several drives so I was in the market for a large hard drive to better organize my old files. I opted for the Seagate 22TB drive because of its' size and, for the size of the drive, it was relatively inexpensive compared to other options. Things I like about the drive: 1) It has a large capacity but is relatively small compared to my other external drives; 2) it is plug and play. I have some drives my system has a hard time identifying sometimes but there are no issues with this drive; 3) everything works out of the box. I have had no issues so far; 4) I use it on 3 systems and it works well on all 3 systems and is easy to move from one to the other. It is not my fastest drive. have a portable Sandisk SSD that is faster but it has not been a problem. You can hear it working but it is not annoying. Overall I am very pleased with the Seagate Drive.

Compact Storage or Backup with Large Capacity.
The backup capacity is extraordinary for the price. Top quality and very quiet, this small unit functions fast and gives tremendous storage. Cable length is more than adequate and the unit is compact and stackable. I liked my first one so much, I purchased another.

Good for a NAS build...
The external hard drive enclosure is slightly bigger than the actual hard drive itself. In my experience it has an okay speed. Not the fastest drive that I've used. The USB port is a normal usb-a 3.0 port so no usb-c. The power source has multiple adapters for people who would use it for their travels so no matter what kind of power outlet it present you should be okay. The design of the external case has openings to vent the heat coming from the actual hard drive inside. In terms of security, the drive is held in my rubber pads within the external enclosure that are surrounded by plastic tabs that hold it in. The external hard drive is a good choice to use for a NAS build if you are comfortable shucking the external case. The price is competitive when compared to a normal NAS internal drive. If you choose to go that route bear in mind that shucking the drive comes at the risk of voiding the warranty. Overall it's decent and has been running well on my NAS. The okay speed on the drive is the limiting factor which is why it's 4 out of 5 stars. Lastly the actual enclosure itself will still run other old drives if the ribbon cable and board aren't damaged during the shucking process. Any old 3.5 internal drives would work perfectly to recycle and not throw out the remaining hardware.

Simple, high quality, long lasting
I purchased one of these several years ago, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they sent me a case of 8 brand new SSDs, kept a few, sold a couple at about a 60% discount from the online price, gave a couple away as gifts, and their lifespan has been impressive, they've all performed beautifully the whole time I've had them. Instant access to files with no complex processes to follow, although the stock cable could be longer.

Frustrated/Now happy
If Seagate honors the warranty, I'll amend this review. I purchased two of these to store my video library on. After spending close to two months downloading, one of the drives just stopped working. I turned my desktop off at night and the next day I fired the computer back up, and one of hard drives was not recognized nor did the power light come on. After frantically trying to find a solution, I finally had to admit that I may have just wasted a couple of months and over 800 movies, and the cost of the hard drive. I'm going to reach out to Seagate in the morning, and see what they are going to do. I am amending my review. Seagate was able to restore all the data from my crashed hard drive. I was very impressed with their customer support, and the quick turnover time in recovering my data. As a bonus, they gave me a free hard drive that they restore the data to, plus they sent me another hard drive to replace the one that stopped working.

What i like about this HDD is the stable transfer speed with power supply unlike other that are unstable transfer speed. Got few TB of data transferred at ease. Only thing that might be a down side is the sound created might be a nuisance but overall it works very well for my heavy data. Will be back if data exceed again!
