An unexpectedly good purchase
I had never used an aluminum block before this. I was surprised how it helped soothe my skin and close my little weepers. It gives excellent feedback about the overall shave.

An essential addition to my budget shaving kit
I'm not really the most careful shaver, and I don't use the best handle or blades, so I usually nick myself a few times when I shave. This has quickly stopped the bleeding from all but one particularly deep nick I gave myself a couple weeks ago, and even that one only took a couple minutes to seal up using this block. I used to use either styptic powder or a styptic pencil, but after using this even once I'm never going back. It's really nice to have a couple square inches of contact area because it makes it so easy to just use it on my entire face whether I cut myself or not. My skin feels healthier in general since I started using this, and I think it's because it seals up all the otherwise-bloodless microscopic cuts I give myself while shaving -- the signature "styptic sting" makes it pretty easy to feel when it's "found" a cut I didn't see. The end result is a smooth face with minimal irritation. The one improvement that they can make to this is the smoothness of the block out of the factory. It's a little bit rough to start with, but still smooth enough to immediately use on my face. Even if one is sensitive to a rougher block, it's easy enough to remedy yourself -- just bring it in to the shower a few times and rub the end on your forearms. It'll be nice and smooth within a week.

GREAT product that goes way back.
I'd read about Potassium Alum before purchasing, basically to find out what that Gag in the Warner Bros cartoons was about [wherein someone ingests Alum and it shrinks their heads and makes their Voices high-pitched]. As an Aftershave Stone, it's unmatched, almost magically removing razor irritation throughout one's face, just slide the wet stone all over your freshly-shaven skin: the relief is instant and its styptic properties are immediate. I like it so much that I purchased 5 more Alum stones from separate manufacturers as Christmas gifts. I never knew about Alum before but it's perfect if one shaves, so I'm highly recommending it.

Alum block is alum block
I own or have owned a few different alum blocks, and Proraso’s is no different from any decent quality alum block. Post-shave you slide it across your damp face and the gentle sting (in often invisible nicks) tells you it’s working. It’s a standard part of my shaving ritual since moving to safety razors. There’s really not much to review when it comes to alum blocks, it’s kind of like trying to review salt. I will take a star just because it’s made in China; you can get blocks manufactured in other countries that need the exports more.

Good size, quality
It stings like alcohol and it is supposed to. But you’ll get used to it. Works fairly well and most nicks stop on one or two touches. Adding this after cold water splash also helps. I tend to leave it on and do not notice any issues with drying. It doesn’t do much to “soothe” your face. Bar is a good size and I think will last me years. Cardboard box it comes in has held up so far- don’t put bar away wet and should be ok but eventually I’ll probably need something else. No issues with cracking or bar holding up. Edges may come a little “sharp” at first but these will soften with use, similar to a bar of soap. As long as you don’t butcher your face with your razor this will do the job.

Works perfectly
This alum stone works great. When I tried a new (to me) blade, I cut myself and had irritation on my neck. This stone plugged my bleeder and soothed my irritated neck. I have tried other alum blocks, but this one seems to work best for me. It comes in a cardboard box, so I bought a travel size soap carrier to keep it in, to let it dry for re-use. I look forward to seeing how long this one stone last.

I've been shaving for years, I have a thick beard and use feather blades... Holy smokes this is a very very nice aftermath. Wish I'd had known about this sooner

Italia Quality
