Great Introductory Book
This book though small is well written with nice illustrations. Somewhere I thought I had read others considered it a children's book. From reading it I have no idea why that would be. Small, short yet informative. Just what I was hoping for.

Great book
I bought this book for my 9 year old son. The history a.d stories are great. It's been a fantastic way to add to his education while we're at home. Some parts are over his head especially when discussing marriage etc but he's very interested in it. Highly recommend it.

Informative and light read.
This book is primarily for those with limited or insufficient knowledge about Sub-Saharan West Africa. But, it is nonetheless, an informative, quick-easy read for those also interested in learning the causes behind certain practices and traditions from Medieval Western Africa that persist until today.

Members of the African diaspora have very little understanding concerning the culture, religion, and social structure of our motherland. In this book, one will find an adequate source of information detailing enough of the history for beginners that will leave the reader thirsty for more knowledge on the subject.

***A Great Book I Really Enjoyed***
Having this book has greatly enriched our lessons on Africa and the royal kingdoms of Mali and Songhay. Ghana we were already very acquainted with, however, Mali and Songhay has really surprised us. Take a chance and buy this book its especially excellent for African courses and homeschooling curriculums.
