Saw Cuts well, feels good in hand
I used this to cut up Christmas tree trunks and branches each year for my mom. Saw cuts well and you don't need to apply much pressure to get it cutting. My 70 year old mother tried it out a few times and felt it was easy and did half the cuts herself. The key is to know how to use the saw and let the saw do the work in smooth, steady strokes. Pushing into the cuts with too much force won't help and will tire you out more. Wear gloves to avoid blisters and sap on hands.

SAFETY GLASSES AND A HEAVY DUTY PARACORD LAYARD ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The SILKY LANDSCAPING HAND SAW POCKETBOY MODEL HAS ...
REVIEW: June 11 ,2015PLEASE NOTE:USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN USING THIS SAW.The Silky Folding Saw WILL BITE ITS MASTER!!IT IS DELIVERED--- NOT JUST RAZOR SHARP BUT- EXTREMELY LIGHT SABER SHARP!! GLOVES, SAFETY GLASSES AND A HEAVY DUTY PARACORD LAYARD LEASH ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Also to open the saw Blade you can attempt to INSERT A ZIP TIE INTO THE SMALL OPENED NAIL KNICK ON THE BLADE. THEN CAREFULLY; OPEN THE BLADE SLOWLY!!!The SILKY Folding LANDSCAPING HAND SAW POCKETBOY MODEL HAVE MUCH LARGER "GOLIATH FISH SAW MILL TEETH" than my recently acquired: BACHO 396 9 inch LAPLANDER!THESE GOLIATH FISH TEETH ON THE SILKY LANDSCAPING HAND SAW POCKETBOY' HAVE A SEEMINGLY MORE OF A SUPER AGGRESSIVE ALTERNATING TOOTH CONSTRUCTION DESIGN versus the Bacho's single tooth construction. THESE TEETH,THE SILKU FOLDING LANDSCAPING HAND SAW TEEH EFFORTLESSLY BITE INTO LOGS WITH NO PROBLEM! When you start the first cut, these teeth seems DIG MUCH DEEPER THAN THE BACHO LAPLANDER! This indicates to me; that the Silky Landscaping saw REALLY WANTS TO RIP THROUGH WOOD; LIKE A FEEDING FRENZIED TYRANNOSAURUS REX ON STEROIDS!THE SILKY FOLDING LANDSCAPING HAND SAW POCKET BOY HAS SOME ADDED BONUSES:1) IT COMES WITH A SEE - THROUGH CASE. I CALL THE CASE A HEAVY DUTY MUZZLE TO PROTECT THE USER!!2) The handle is an EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE GRIPPY HANDLE .3) THE Positive LOCK Ratcheted SAFETY feature allows the user the ability to Safely saw timber at different angles.4) Low Work Stress- The large teeth allows the tool do the work for youYou will find that the Silky Landscaping Saw a REAL joy to work with!Apply a light coat of your favorite lubricant or wax to not extend the life of the blade. Some UTUBE Videos recommend using Aa coat of JOHNSON'S WAX PRIOR TO CUTTING YOUR TIMBER.I also purchased a spare Silky 170mm #347-17 Pocket Boy Japanese Saw Blade!Would I purchase the SILKY Folding Landscaping POCKETBOY AGAIN????MOST DEFINITELY!Check out the EXCELLENT and IN DEPTH SILKY SAW TESTS : Virtual Voice.com Videos On UTUBE!VIRTUAL VOICE cuts through Large fallen trees with various models of Silky Folding Saws!!

Top Quality Gardening Tool
Effectively cut a 3 inch diameter branch in 3 or 4 strokes. Best pruning knife I have ever used. The clear plastic sheath is a winner, too.

Superb ally for fire prep while camping/backpacking
Superb, lightweight, reliable, fast folding saw. I purchased this specifically for backpacking/camping fire-making/emergency shelter making. It does a very fast and clean job on dried wood up to about 3.5" in diameter. The blade does have flex to it, so larger/heavier branches/wood pieces need to be kept from biting/clamping down on the blade after the pass through or it can stop the blade cold. When cutting down a seasoned sapling into smaller 16" or so segments, I had to let the weight of the long end teeter-totter over a fallen tree. That way as I cut and put pressure on the short end, the weakness in the cut line would force the wood apart instead of together. It cuts fast (if the wood diameter is half the blade length or smaller) and cleanly. It only cuts on the pull, but it's not noticeable when working IMO.I'll take this with me from now on unless I'm on a very extended backpacking trip where every oz. counts.Pros:- Great construction- Nice handle- Excellent locking mechanism and hinge- Dual-position locking point for regular/down-swept and up-swept positions- Fast, clean cutter on seasoned wood of size- Nice caseCons- Not as fast on green wood, but different toothed blade would help here- Flex in the blade and a narrow cut makes blade stoppage a problem in some scenariosOverall an excellent small folding saw for it's designed target wood size. I'll likely be getting a larger version for use around the house or "luxury" camping where larger dried wood might be available.Highly recommended!

Cuts like a dream
The blade cuts without effort. Very little binding. Quality materials. My only issue is that with two hands on the handle it is easy to hit the blade lock mechanism the blade will move up a notch without warning. For this size saw stick with smaller diameter trees/branches.

This is my "hammer" and everything is a nail!
If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I have other yard tools, but for the two years I've owned this saw (and the 6 months before that I borrowed one from a friend), this has been my go to tool for that tenacious work that is beating back a north Florida jungle (oops I mean garden).Because we don't get a hard winter, and summers are endless and rainy, trees start up like crazy. It's far too hot in summer sun for me so I tackle this beast annually in late summer (so now) when the sun is lower and I can work in shade and not die to death of heat.I've used it wildly, just swinging at taller weaker overgrowth and lately, I've been using it underground, trying to eradicate tree roots at their source. I've got fairly thick dropped limbs up with this beast. I've owned many a saw and am just stunned how fast and handy this little sucker is. And no worse for wear after two years despite my abuse. The locking stay closed mechanism stopped working, but it doesn't matter since I store it in its case. Or in my pocket as I go around my (aggressively large for a northern transplant who didn't know any better) yard.I can't say enough good things about this amazing saw.
