Excellent Router for Advanced Home or Office Networks
**Title:** *Excellent Router for Advanced Home or Office Networks* **Review:** Very impressive router with excellent performance and plenty of advanced networking features. The multi-gig WAN ports make a noticeable difference for high-speed internet connections, and the stability has been excellent even with multiple devices connected at once. Setup through the Omada system was straightforward if you already have some networking knowledge, and the VPN and management features are very useful for home labs, remote work, or small business setups. The build quality feels solid, and overall performance is fast and reliable for demanding network environments. It may be a bit overkill for casual users, but for anyone wanting better control, speed, and future-proof networking, this is a great investment.

ER707-M2
Ordered from amazon.co.uk but was delivered from USA with a US power adaptor. Pretty basic error by amazon. Router added to Omada and is performing exactly as expected.

Firewall lacking full ipv6 features
It wouldn't suit my setup as ipv6 support on the firewall side isn't as fully featured as something like Opnsense.. Returned

Great for IPV4 - Beyond useless for IPv6
For an IPV router, it works well - VERY well and although the menu system for configuration is poorly designed, it is not too difficult to work out. This changes with IPV6. The most hideously counter-intuitive system you could imagine. Even the option to "Enable IPV6" is itself hidden until you manage to find (on another page) "Enable Prefix Delegation". After several H-O-U-R-S of searching forums (I am not alone in finding this a real pig-of-a-product), I end up cheating and using "Claude AI" which (after uploading screen grabs from almost every configuration page possible) helps me get closer. Now we have an issue where we NEED to enter a field (prefix) but the system doesn't allow us to enter anything in it. Don't get me wrong, I am sure with the right incantation, using 11 different pages and donating a pint of unicorn blood to Beelzebub, I am sure it is possible. Unless you are an IT guru (not just someone that can do easy stuff like install GPUs on HPE kit with a forced X11 driver when it wants to install Wayland on a version of RHEL that doesn't want to use embedded video), then I would suggest you should not touch this router with a "mucky" stick. IPV4 - Brilliant - works as it should. IPV6 - This is the sort of thing GCHQ should use as their final test to prove you can decode garbage. AVOID the ERR707-M2 if you need IPV6 (even after you have re-updated the firmware to at least make IPV6 kind of possible). Life really is too short. Some routers, you really do just "click Enable IPV6" and the defaults pretty much take over. NOT this one.

Exactly What We Wanted for a More Secure Whole-Home Network
Definitely a great product to have in order to easily be more confident in the security of your home network. We purchased the TP-Link ER707-M2 because we wanted to take the security of our home network to another level. Our goal was to create a whole-house VPN setup rather than installing and managing VPN software individually on every computer and device in the house. With the number of computers, phones, tablets, smart devices, and other connected equipment families have today, we wanted that additional layer of security and the peace of mind that comes with having more control over our entire network. I did quite a bit of research before deciding which direction to go because networking equipment isn't something I wanted to purchase simply based on price or a few good reviews. After comparing different options, we kept coming back to the TP-Link Omada equipment and ultimately chose the ER707-M2. I also talked with a few friends who work in cybersecurity and network administration. I wanted opinions from people who actually understand this equipment and work with networks professionally rather than relying entirely on what I could learn from product descriptions and online reviews. They liked this choice as well, which gave me considerably more confidence that we were heading in the right direction. The VPN capabilities were obviously one of the biggest selling points for us. Having the ability to manage VPN connectivity at the network level provides exactly the type of flexibility we were looking for. It also supports several VPN protocols, so we're not locked into one specific approach as our network changes in the future. The hardware itself feels substantial and well made. I also really like having the multi-gigabit capability. If I'm upgrading the network for security, I don't want the router becoming an unnecessary bottleneck as our internet service and other networking equipment improve. The dual 2.5GbE capability gives us some additional room to grow. Another thing I appreciate is that this goes well beyond simply being a VPN router. The firewall, VLAN, routing, load-balancing, and network-management capabilities provide plenty of options for separating and controlling different parts of the home network. That's particularly attractive as the number of smart-home and IoT devices in our house continues to increase. There is definitely more to configuring equipment like this than a typical consumer Wi-Fi router, especially if you intend to take advantage of its more advanced capabilities. Personally, I don't consider that a negative. We specifically purchased it because we wanted more control over our network, and that naturally comes with more configuration options. Overall, we're extremely happy with our decision. We wanted to build a more secure whole-home network with VPN capability and greater control over how our devices connect, and the ER707-M2 checked the boxes we were looking for. After doing our own research and getting positive feedback from friends who work professionally in cybersecurity and network administration, we felt very comfortable choosing it. For anyone wanting to move beyond a basic home router and build a more capable, secure, and expandable home network, this has been an excellent choice and gives us the additional security and peace of mind we were looking for. Also, for some additional details, we currently use the eero Network system with multiple eero home wifi routers and we haven't had any issues and can definitely say its Compatibility with the system is excellent. It has good Range, as the first device to this VPN Router is with a few feet of the main WiFi router and anything we have directly connected to the TP-Link hasn't had any range issues within our house of approximately 3300 sq ft.

The Perfect Gateway for a robust network
If you’re looking to upgrade your home or small office network to a more robust customizable network the Tp-Link ER707 m2 paired with the Omada controller, access points and switches is the way to go. Right out of the box swapping it in for my old ER605 V1 gateway was straightforward and the multi-gig 2.5 Gbps ports give your network the future proofing it needs to survive the ever-changing landscape on networking. Paired with the Omada controller, the whole ecosystem really shines as the centralized dashboard, remote access, and monitoring tools that gives you visibility into devices, traffic, and usage without drowning you in complexity. One of the standout features for me is the VPN flexibility. The ER707-M2 supports IPSec, OpenVPN, L2TP, PPTP, and, best of all, WireGuard, which has quickly become my go-to for secure and efficient client to server connections. Add in VLANs, ACLs, and advanced monitoring, and you have all the tools to build a robust, segmented, and flexible home network to isolate IoT devices, hosting a media server, or just keeping the kids’ devices in check. There is also the USB port that allows you to plug in a cellular/LTE USB modem that gives you a backup internet connection if your main WAN goes down or just use it use it for USB storage or file sharing. Overall, the ER707-M2 is a versatile well-rounded gateway that is flexible, fast, and packed with advanced security and traffic control, enterprise grade tools, all at a price that doesn’t require raiding the retirement fund. If you want an upgrade that still suits the home network needs that powerful yet approachable, with WireGuard VPN, VLAN control, with Omada’s centralized management to tie it all together, this router is hard to beat.

Great Product, Great Product Tech Support, and Great Amazon Customer Service
First, I want it known that Amazon sent me a used product, not the new - never used that I thought I ordered. I know that it was used, because it was unusable because it was password protected and the default starting login did not work. I had to get TP-Link business product support, who advised me to reset the box. After I did that, I was able to create my own account and configure this the way I wanted. The ports are completely programmable to be WAN or LAN ports and these came came to me in some peculiar and unknown state. Updated 7/25/26: TP-Link tech support was very responsive to emails and provided real expert help. This router is extremely configurable and well beyond my personal experience. Tech support helped me navigate and make the settings that ultimately made it function exactly as I needed in my network. I must say that this was the best tech support I have ever received. Kudos to TP-Link for providing real support of their products. I am happy to report that Amazon customer service made this customer very happy. Also, with the switched properly configured, it is functioning in my network as I hoped.

Works well
Currently at 90 days of uptime without a single issue. Omada controller is very simple to setup and has an immense amount of configuration options. This router is able to get the full 2500 Mbps transfer rate with fiber WAN.
