Epson Pulsense PS-100 with Activity and In-Built Heart Rate Monitor

Does everything it says it does. I got this a present for my mum. I did the initial set up, which did take a few attempts to connect the device to the iPhone but since then no connect problems. The heart rate monitor seems pretty accurate. I got this for my mum to just use while jogging but she now wears it all the time. The app isn't the easiest to navigate. It works well with strava.

Worst product i have ever bought! it never started off on a good foot as the original order i placed was refunded to me with no explanation. I placed a second order through amazon I bought this being very excited to try it out, not being put off by other negative reviews saying not compatible with many smartphones. I did my research before purchase to ensure it was compatible with my smartphone Samsung GalaxyS4, (one of the most popular smartphones out). upon arrival, device worked fine. Paired to my phone with no issues, nice app design, nice look of the band. After roughly 12 hours looked at the app to check out my HR through the day, to find that it had not recorded any data! decided to resync device as it could of just been a simple glitch, but was unable to resync device back to smartphone? Tried all the recommended ways of clearing cache data on phone and restarting devices multiple time to no avail. contacted customer support and had a horrible surprise. My phone, SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 is no longer a supported device!!! Even though still on the 26th of November 2014 says clear as day that it IS a supported device. I have started the proceedings for a refund on this item. This is one unhappy customer.

I was looking forward to getting hold of the Pulsense PS-100. I had been using the Fitbit for quite a long time but really wanted a dedicated HR monitor, As of the date of this review there are not very many wrist wearable HR monitors around. So I've had mine for a couple of weeks now. Firstly the HR monitor works very well and is quite accurate too also the device itself is fairly well made. That's pretty much where the good news ends. So now the bad news: Battery life - to be fair to Epson do say it only lasts 37 hours and yes this is the maximum you will get out of it. Sync time - it can take up to 5 minutes for the PS-100 to sync to the Iphone 5, quite why is a mystery I've not figured out but you would have though it would update in real time with the occasional data upload if the BT was not connected. But no every time you hit the sync button it takes about the same amount of time which lets it down. Next, apart from some nice dials you can see in the blurb it doesn't offer much else - you have to add a dedicated fitness app for that, luckily 3rd party app can access the data which is nice. Another downside is if you do run 3rd part apps which use GPS and the HR monitor you will kill your Iphone battery in a 1/2hr run. After that accessing the data which is available takes ages, each time you change page or look back at previous days data it takes forever to become available, even checking the battery status takes way too long and adds a few BPM to your heartrate! All in all I think the concept is good but Epson really need to fix these functional issues with a firmware update. Especially all the waiting around to access menus.The other thing I noticed recently is it loses BT connection where the BT icon on my phone flashes on / off the only way to cure this is delete the pairing and re-pair the device.

Poor instructions and descriptions of functionality. Frequently loses Bluetooth pairing and is erratic in reconnecting. Questionable accuracy on steps when compared with other apps. Sleep results not credible. Typical Epson unreliability. Only thing is does seen to do is register pulse rate in real time.

I bought this for my partner and she really loved it. She says it's like a piece of jewelry. She wears it all the time, even in the shower. Being water-resistant has its advantages. You can, for instance, wear it while swimming. Pairs nicely via Bluetooth so you can monitor your performance via the app. The band I bought for my partner was size S/M, so we even tried it on the baby and it registered the pulse.I bought this when it was reduced in the sales so I would say at less than £50, it offered good value for money.

Looked good on paper, but as I unpackaged it, I found out that the app controlling it (and needed to register the device) can only be downloaded from the UK app store. So unless you're a UK citizen, abstain solely for that reason already. No app = No fun. Also if you're a careful person, meaning your IPhone 3GS is still working perfectly and you didn't feel the need to upgrade to a next gen Apple product, the app won't work, you need at least a Compatible device (iPhone4S / iPhone5 / iPhone5S / iPhone5C). Also noteworthy, the PS-100 does not work with a PC, it can only be used in conjecture with a mobile device. Might be a good idea for Amazon, to restrict distribution to countries where the app is also available, as they do with many other products, but apparently not this one.

I never understood the gimmick of fitness tracker. Most of which monitor your step and hence calculate your calorie burn based on that which I find bulls***. This however is something different entirely. This device right here is one of the few fitness tracker that is capable of monitoring your heart rate continuously for 36 hours (it claims 36 hours but I have exceed this. I have used it for 36 hours and it still had about 1/4 battery). The best part about this is, unlike the other devices that claim to be heart rate monitors, this is capable of being used while running/cycling without heart rate fluctuating too much from the true value. One might note that some other smart wear (Samsung fitness gear) have heart rate monitor build in them but only work if one stayed still. This is definitely a generation ahead. Workout mode It automatically enters workout mode when your heart rate is elevated for a certain amount of time (I have not test how long). It will not be triggered from walking alone (usually). When it goes into workout mode, you can set to have the led light to be on continuously, blink, tapped (you tap the device and it will indicate your heart rate zone) and off. It will vibrate when you have achieve the zone you intend to be in (can be adjusted in setting) and vibrate when you are out (when your hr is too high or too low). It is worth mentioning that PS-100 measures hr in 4 second interval. One might argue that it as accurate as say, garmin heart rate monitor which allow for second to second recording but I think Epson made a good call with that. There is a second (manual) way to enter workout mode is by using your phone. When you are connected via bluetooth, you can enter workout mode in the app where you can see your actual heart rate while working out. One thing this device doesn't mention is that it is capable of rebroadcast your heart rate. What that means is once it is connected via bluetooth to your device, you can use 3rd party apps, such as strava or runtastic to monitor your heart rate while you run. This allows for you to accurate map your run distance + heart rate all in one!! Sleep mode The device automatically detect sleep when you lie on your bed and your hr start decreasing. It is however best to indicate when you normally go to bed so it doesn't confuse a long nap with bed time. Other than showing you when you are in deep sleep and light sleep, it is capable of giving you an overview of your heart rate (in a graph which shows trend). It can come in handy for some if monitoring their heart rate throughout their sleep prove to be important. Step monitoring I personally don't use this parameter much. I see it more as a way to show how active you are at certain amount of time but for those who are interested, you are able to set goals and try to meet them as you go. You do however need to sync it with your phone (ios or android) to view it throughout the day as it doesn't have a display. Calorie This is an interesting subtopic. This device allows for relatively accurate calorie monitoring due to the fact it uses HR to estimate calorie burn. It syncs with myfitnesspal to allow more accurate description and realistic daily goals + long term goals for those interested in losing weight or a healthy lifestyle. All calorie burn are logged as negative and food/calorie intake logged as positive resulting in a net value being shown. So one could technically estimate if that one slice of cake at the end of the day was worth it. Mind Epson allows for the 'monitoring' of the mind. What this means is it uses heart rate when you are sitted or not moving and detect if you are 'relaxed' or 'elevated'. The logic behind it is if you are stressed out, your heart rate will be elevated while you are just sitting down. I do find it records elevated well because every time I had more drinks than I should, the device would logged it as elevated. (Yes, alcohol does raise my heart rate quite significantly) Exercise Once the data is uploaded, the device is capable of showing different zones when exercising (this includes walking) and break it down in how many minutes you have been doing individual zones (maximum, anaerobic, aerobic, fat burning and below). It is capable of showing a chart of day's activity + colour to indicate where did you enter that particular zone. Compatibility This is the most frustrating part for me personally. Epson have produced 2 apps, one for ios and android and it does the job. Unfortunately, for the android version only support samsung phones (unfortunately I use motorola so I rely on my ipod touch to sync). It is worth noting that the device is only compatible with bluetooth 4.0. If you do not have any of these, all is not lost. There are desktop alternative. TL: DR Pro - Great fitness tracker for the every day gym go-er to hardcore athelete - 36 hour HR monitoring before needing to charge your device. 4 days if you disable HRM - Great for calorie tracking fanatics - Has potential with 3rd party apps due to bluetooth rebroadcasting Cons - It does not have ANT+ (yes, tragic). - App compatibility issue with android - LED light can be too bright for some (I personally don't mind) These are my opinions after using it for a few days. Personally, I am enjoying the parameters it is capable of giving.

Really happy with this, I syunc to both Pulsesense and MyPS - both getting data fine.... no real issues, it does take time to learn "you" I have a high resting heeartrate, and over the days it is slowly changing the base level, you will see in profile, or heartbeat extras in MyPS. If it helps, I did do the firmware update as soone as things were connected, it did it all itself, no fails, no issues. Sometimes wish I had the 500 for the display..... and at times glad I have the smallest profile possible.... Happy - good price - scary info.....

Pulsmessung am Handgelenk....bisher wenig Auswahl und in dem Preissegment oft eine Enttäuschung. Das Epson-Band misst auffallend gut, sieht auch noch gut und dezent aus. Endlich Training ohne Brustgurt! Die Verbindung zur App klappt sehr gut und die Werte sind sehr informativ und motivierend. Bei einem Problem hat der Epson Kundenservice sofort weiterhelfen können.

Pulsense 500の次に １００を検討していてら中古が安く出ていたので購入した。 早速設定して両方を使っている。 歩数に大きな差がでるようだ。 睡眠の時間についてはほぼ同じ数値が出るが深さについては１００は感知しないようだ。（睡眠の深度が一番の関心事である。） まだ使い始めて二日目なので様子を見てみたい。 尚、アンドロイド携帯への接続は断念してアイパッドにつないでいる。

Ich habe die PS-100 nun 8 Monate und würde sie all meinen Freunden nur empfehlen. Kaum ein Fitnesstracker zeichnet den Puls kontinuierlich auf. Das war einer der Hauptgünde die für mich für die PS-100 sprachen. Natürlich fragt man sich: "Epson? Die stellen drucker her... und nun ein fitnesstracker?" - Ja ! Und die Ingenieure haben gute Arbeit geleistet. Der Akku hält bei mir 2 Tage und läd dann etwas 1 h. Die Software: Ja - die ist ein Problem. Die Firmware die zu Beginn ausgeliefert wurde war wirklich schlecht. Ich kann aber niemandem raten sich davon abhalten zu lassen das Produkt zu kaufen. Hat man es erst einmal geschafft die Firmware der PS-100 auf den neusten Stand zu bringen hat man für etwa 100 € ein Leistungsstarken Fitnesstracker. Das Firmwareupdate wird dabei bequem per App aufgespielt. Nur die erste Kopplung zwischen Smartphone und dem Gerät ist etwas schwer herzustellen. Endomondo und Runtastic laufen ohne Probleme ! Eine coole Funktion ist der Wecker: Man definiert ein Zeitfenster in dem man geweckt werden möchte. Innerhalt dieser Zeit schaut das Gerät wann der schlaf besonders leicht ist und weckt euch durch 3-maliges Vibrieren. Mich mach das wach. Meine Freundin nicht. Ich liebe das Feature trotzdem. Weitere coole Funktion ist Vibration bei wahlweise Anrufen, Kalendar Erinnerungen oder E-Mails. Das ist für mich ein Grund warum ich das Gerät oft auch trage wenn ich gerade keinen Sport treibe. Tragekomfort und Material find ich sehr angenehm. Hinweise: Google nach "Pairing problem ps-100"

Non utilizzabile, non si collega con nessun dispositivo smartphone basato su Android. Ho utilizzato 5, si, 5 dispositivi diversi tutti con Android recente e Bluetooth 4. Mai più. Il braccialetto sembra funzionare, ma senza poter collegarlo é ridicolo e non compro un IPhone per poterLo utilizzare.

mit dem Pulsense PS-100T. Auf der Suche nach einem perfekt für mich geeigneten Aktivitäts Tracker wurde ich auf dieses Elegante Armband der Marke Epson aufmerksam. Epson?.. was haben die mit Fitnessprodukten am Hut dachte ich mir und hab mir erstmal ein Bild von den Funktionen gemacht. Da dieses Band über alles und noch vielmehr an Tracking möglichkeiten verfügte als ich mir erwünscht habe schaute ich auf die bisherigen Rezensionen und bin erstmal erschrocken! Kompatibilitäts Probleme, Synchronisierungs schwierigkeiten, unangenehm zu tragen und und und.. Nach langem Überlegen hab ich mich dann doch für dieses Modell entschieden da die technischen Daten mir vonn allen am Markt befindlichen geräten immer noch am meisten zusagten. Nach drei Tagen ausgiebigem Testen kann ich nun Berichten wie ich mit diesem Gerät zurecht gekommen bin! - Die Inbetriebnahme und Kopplung mit meine iphone 5s mit iOS 8.1.2 funktionierte Problemlos! - Die App zu verstehen ist selbst mit pdf Anleitung die man auf der Epson Hompage herunter laden kann etwas schwierig, hier hilft nur learning by doing, aber wenn man erstmal alles verstanden hat freundet man sich schnell damit an! - Die Synchronisation der Daten ist in der Tat etwas träge aber bei weitem nicht so schlimm wie hier manche berichten! - Der Akku hält wirklich nur zwei Tage durch daher immer schön das Ladegerät mitnehmen :-) -Das automatisierte Wecken in einer nicht Tiefschlafphase funktioniert Tadellos! Die Einstellung von mehreren Weckzeiten ist zwar fummelig aber möglich! -Komischerweise Klappte das ganze mit meinem ipad 4 ebenfalls mit iOS 8.1.2 nicht Zusammengefasst kann ich sagen, dass ich das Armband guten gewissens weiterempfehlen kann. Alle Sensoren funktionieren Tadellos und alle Statistiken werden Sauber geführt! Um auf 5 Sterne zu kommen wünsche ich mir eine Kopplung an die Health app von Apple und eine intuitivere App von Epson! Update: Kopplung mit meinem ipad4 klappt nun auch problemlos. Man muss vorher zuerst in die Pulsense am anderen gerät entkoppeln, dann funktioniert es!
