Brace On AFO Swedish Drop Foot Stabilizer, Ankle Support, Men, Left

Overall an excellent brace. I bought this one because previous ones prescribed either hurt like the dickens or break/crack after a few months of use. I have 2 extremely floppy feet and ankles so wear these every day. The only drawback so far is that these AFOs are shorter than others I have worn and don’t give as much lateral support to the ankle but at least I won’t fall on my face! These are made out of a tough plastic and are difficult to trim. Household scissors won’t work so I used metal shears and finished with a belt sander. Other reviews have commented on the poor quality of the Velcro straps. They are correct but a cheap, simple fix is to buy some cinch straps for roughly $1 each and glue them on.

As a result of injuries during my previous career, I've essentially no more cartilage in my ankle and have a great deal of bone-on-bone contact at all times. Thus, I need (at least) a semi-rigid support for my ankle/foot to significantly reduce the flexion in my ankle when peddling on a bicycle...at this point the only potential physical activity available considering various injuries I have. Thought this product might help, but it does absolutely nothing to reduce the flexion...I mean NOTHING. My ankle still fully flexes even with the smallest amount of pressure applied while wearing the brace. FOR ME, this product was a complete waste of money. However, if we don't try, we don't know, right? I wold offer that if you need ANY sort of restriction to the amount of flexion you have in your ankle, this is NOT THE PRODUCT FOR YOU. However, if you're just looking for something that may fool your mind and gives you the sense that there is some support, then give it a shot. Again, this product DID NOT MEET MY NEEDS, but everyone's needs are different and the product may be just what the doctor ordered for you. Good luck!

Does what it is suppose to do. I wear a men's 11.5 and this fits my shoe/foot perfectly. Didn't have to do any trimming. Put it in your shoe first before strapping it on, it will make your life easier. Its plastic, so have some common sense if you have it on without shoes on carpeted/slick surfaces. There is no grip on the bottom. Also, there is no strap on the foot, they are only above the ankle. So if it isn't secured firmly and you're not wearing shoes, it's probably not going to stay secured to your foot. What I am saying is, just wear it with shoes. If you're an americansheepdog and only have one functioning arm and hand and you need to trim it, here is a tip... Put it on, get a marker and mark the device where you need to cut it. REMOVE DEVICE. Secure device to safe and flat work area. Get scissors or similar cutting device (with your strong hand that works). Cut along the marked line that you earlier made. Reattach device to your foot. DONE. If you are unable to do so with the strong hand, just ask a friend, family member or whoever wipes your ass for you because you can't do simple tasks with your hands, to cut it for you. If their wiping them cheeks, I am sure this won't be a problem. Adapt and overcome. and always remember the acronym, K.I.S.S

I would’ve given this a five stars if it had came with some foam padding at the very top of the brace. Since I have a very sensitive and numbing sensation on my calves, this brace dug into my skin and caused a wound. The brace did the trick, but if it had a little more padding or if I would add some padding before wearing them again, it’s a good brace.

This AFO is inexpensive and solves the need. It doesn't really take care of helping a patient with dropfoot walk well.

For two days this brace did a good job on my drop foot. However on the third day when I unraveled the velcro strap. a 2" X 2" piece of flesh came off my leg with it. I bleed all over the carpet and finally wrapped the wound with gauze and hoped for the best. I am in the 3 rd week since the injury and still await the raw flesh to heal. I've applied antibiotic cream and have been wrapping it in hopes that it will not became infected. It still stings like hell, but does appear to be slowly healing. My leg swelling has gone down a bit also. So sorry everyone to have to prepare this review. The product is well made and stable and for the first day or two was great, but please Mr. AFO, design some other type of fabric strap so your other customers don't possibly go through what I have gone through. I suppose when my leg completely heals, I'll try the brace again and be sure that the velcro doesn't touch the skin, and cover the leg with a fabric first before installing it.

I received one of these braces years ago and forget how I got it. One of my doctors probably told me about it. I can't control my left foot and this device has saved me from tripping many times. After my balance turned bad my doctors gave me a brace that goes all the way to my knee. This is made of heavy gauge metal and uses cloth material to secure it. It requires considerable maintenance and doesn't hold very well after a short period of time. I went back to the Swedish brace and found it much better at securing my foot. Unfortunately I tried it with heavily padded socks and broke it. I went through many pages of Amazon material to find it and having ordered it and found it to still be reliable have ordered 2 more for backup.

Straps slopy fit as you can see in photo . The hook portion should be also on the entire strap so the loop can attatch and secure the extra length of straping. Poor design or just cheap cost cutting design

I ordered a left foot brace. They sent me a right to return it. They expected me to pay for postage and duty fees, etc.. The foot brace was the wrong one as I said that was sent yet it appeared to be poorly made the straps are Velcro and we’re halfway unglued on the back of the brace
