Water Wave Projector 150W, Waterproof Light, RGBW APP & RF Control

I have several smaller projectors that I thought are pretty cool, which they are on a smaller scale, but none compare to this one. This projector is a commercial quality that is made of aluminum with heat sinks that is powder coated in black and has a mounting bracket. It is a quality light projector with countless color combinations. The remote has several pre-set options, but with the app (surplife) you can create your own color scene to suit the occasion. A few of the presets include - Flash, Strobe, Fade, Smooth - the names pretty much describe what happens once selected, but the strobe is really like a strobe light, with color if you choose. The cord is a three prong 110v that’s a decent length. With the powdered coated aluminum body it should last quite a while, as far as the physical aspects. I currently have this light in my bedroom, but I will take it outside as holidays come around because it will really project a good distance and add the moving water like, sky like… whatever you want to call it, with what ever colors you decide to use. It is rated as IP65 so it should take all weather conditions. The lens is a fisheye design with little flat spots all over it, which adds to the special effects it produces. It does seem a little pricey, but it’s not your run-of-the-mill light, it’s a solidly built fixture that one can use in a commercial application or, like me, a super projector that I would be surprised if any neighbors have one, so… it has a uniqueness to it.

Sadly, this arrived broken. It would not turn on at all. Tried several things to get it working to no avail. Perhaps I just got a busted one.

I have about a dozen different decorative and projector lights, and I can say without question that the build quality of this light is the best of the bunch. And it’s not even particularly close. So, there’s that. However, projection-wise, I think the quality of the projected effect is only a few notches above average. Which is perfectly fine if you plan to use it indoors. In fact, indoors, this light is AWESOME. Really pretty. Extremely vivid. Outdoors is where you will need to curb your expectations. Do not plan on this light having a vivid projected image on an area that’s any bigger than about 30-feet by 30-feet. Because as you may know, the closer the light is to the surface you’re projecting on, the better the image is. But, of course, the closer the light is to the surface you’re projecting on, the smaller the image becomes. So, if you know what this light is and isn’t good for, I think that like me, you will be extremely happy with it. You might think paying over $150 for a single light for the yard would be silly. But it's so not! Once you get this light and try out all its different functions, you'll probably be as amazed as I was. It's awesome because you can control everything directly from the app. My knees don't work like they used to and bending down to fiddle with changing the settings ain't my thing anymore. But, with this ONE light that covers a very large space on your wall or in your area, you can do so much. The color options are endless it seems. The light is bright and the light seems very sturdy and well-built. Additionally, it has a decent size cord. I don't really know if it's a good value or not, as I've never had a light like this one that can do so many different things to compare it to. I DO really lik it though, and you can use it for multiple holidays, not just one.

I have a number of cheaper wave projectors that all suffer from the same issue--the light output isn't as intense as I would like it to be. This Yasotek projector is brighter than those cheaper versions, but it's not bright enough to justify the price. It is well-made (at least the housing is, I haven't opened it to evaluate the electronic) and quite heavy. It has a yolk, so it can be mounted to a truss or permanently installed on a ceiling, but it would be better if it came with a split yolk for precise positioning when placed on the floor. It comes with one of those cheap remotes that serves its purpose for changing colors and effects, but a projector at this price point should be controllable by DMX, which it isn't. Also, there is a wire that extends rom the unit that acts as the receiver for the wireless remote--I found this an odd choice. The effect is good, but at this price point, I find it lacking some of the features I would expect from a "professional" projector.

This projector is an interesting mix of “premium power” and “missing potential.” On the one hand, it’s a surprisingly rugged piece of equipment -- hefty, metal-bodied, and more than capable of withstanding whatever the backyard (or gig stage) throws at it. It delivers a strong, pleasant water ripple effect with solid brightness (especially in the red/blue/green spectrums) and does a great job holding its last setting even after a power cycle. It’s like the kind of light you expect to see in a pro venue -- but perhaps just one feature short of truly belonging there. On the other hand, while the build quality is very “serious,” the features feel a touch undercooked for the price. There's no DMX control, the dimming function through the remote seems hit-or-miss (depending on the unit), and there's no mounting stake included, which feels like a bit of an oversight for an outdoor product. Still, the lighting effect is solid, the music sync and app control are fun additions, and I’ve got to admit -- it made my backyard luau feel about 80% more festive. It’s big, bright, and built to last -- more like something you’d expect to find in a commercial setting than a consumer-grade holiday light. The lighting effects (especially the ripple) are genuinely impressive and have a cinematic, almost relaxing quality to them. Where it stumbles is in the execution of its “smart” features and value-for-dollar. For the price, the lack of DMX support, occasional buggy dimming controls, and the need to DIY a mounting solution keep this from being an automatic five-star product. But if you're looking for a long-lasting, visually impactful ambient lighting solution and you're okay with working around a few missing features, it's still a worthy pick. Especially if it's ever on sale. Final Rating: 4/5 (Outstanding durability and lovely lighting effects, but needs feature refinements and mounting flexibility to fully earn its price tag.)

This light has some good things about it, but with the annoyances, limitations, and considering the cost, I would return it if that were an option for me (it is not, as a Vine review item). The good: solid housing, seems like it could be waterproof as stated. Fairly bright. Remote works. App works. For the colors and brightness, I have uploaded a few examples. The green light photo shows it on a black ceiling with the other lights off. It is a nice effect. What I don't like: The yoke could be like my other DJ lights with two adjustable pieces to allow it to be used on the floor with adjustable angles. The yoke also doesn't hold position securely even when tightened as much as can be done by hand. Maybe if a wrench were used it could be cranked more to hold, but for outdoor use with wind, as it, it would move, and up high I think gravity would cause it to slip position even indoors. The power cable isn't detachable so I can't swap it for a longer one. This might ne to keep it waterproof, but then the cable should be longer. Even near a power outlet an extension cord would be needed if this were mounted on a tall stand. The music reactive mode with light's built-in mic is the worst of any I own, including less expensive DJ light, and that is with adjusting sensitivity through the app to try different settings. None were good. The option to use the phone mic with the app was better, but that's not going to be a realistic option for a lot of situations. The best response was when loading a music file into the app, where it was satisfactory, but not practical for my intended uses. The brand is Yasotek, but the app is Surplife. That mismatch is annoying so be prepared to write on a label sticker to keep track. The remote has no branding so you'll need to make a label for that too. The customization options let me down, even within the app. There is no way to also tye water effect pattern, only color, flashing, and brightness. Many scenes use combinations of colors but with no control over tye specific combinations or ratios between them. There is no on/off switch. Maybe it's worth it for some, but for me, it is hard to recommend unless someone knew the annoyances and limitations and were not bothered by them.
