For slightly non-smooth surfaces, an adhesive-backed mounting disc is included.1.Ensure the Surface is Flat, Smooth, and Dry: Curved, concave, or convex surfaces will not adhere well.2. Clean and Dry the Surface and Suction Cup3. Form an Initial Suction:Press the holder firmly against the wall or other surface, pushing out any air to create an initial suction.4. We bought this holder to be able to keep the handheld shower head midway down the wall so when the bath aide is helping with my mother's seated shower, she doesn't have to reach so far over her head to put it back or take it down. It also allows a steady stream of water to keep my mom warm while my hands are free to wash her. I wish I had thought of it sooner! The suction has worked well so far. We have the fiberglass solid panel so my wall is smooth. Great quality and it looks fine. I'm very happy with my purchase. And would buy again. I have had it for a couple of months and it seems pretty durable.
