Great HomeKit Camera, But Aqara Needs to Be More Transparent About Outdoor Installation
I’ve been a long-time Ring user and recently decided to switch to HomeKit Secure Video. After installing the Aqara G100 outdoors, I can honestly say I’m impressed with the camera itself. The image quality is excellent, HomeKit Secure Video setup was extremely easy, and the camera has been reliable. Motion detection has been accurate, HKSV recordings work as expected, and the camera blends in nicely with my home’s exterior. For anyone heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem, this is one of the best HKSV cameras I’ve used. That said, I have a few criticisms that potential buyers should know about. First, Aqara and Amazon need to do a better job explaining outdoor installation requirements. The product description makes it sound straightforward, but there is very little information about cable routing, power requirements, or what to expect for a permanent outdoor installation. My biggest complaint is the included USB-C cable. The camera ships with a cable that is only about 5 feet long. For an outdoor security camera, that’s simply not practical in many real-world installations. Most outdoor mounting locations are nowhere near a power source, and I ended up purchasing longer cables separately. The camera itself appears well protected from the weather, and the USB-C connection includes a silicone protective sleeve, which is a nice touch. However, buyers should plan on purchasing a longer cable before installation unless they have an outlet very close to the mounting location. I also wish the mounting system offered a little more adjustment. It works well for straight-on installations, but it’s not quite as flexible as the ball-and-socket style mounts used by some competitors. Overall, though, the positives far outweigh the negatives. The camera quality, HomeKit integration, reliability, and appearance have been excellent. I would absolutely buy it again, but I strongly recommend Aqara update the product description and include clearer information about outdoor installation expectations and the very short included cable. Despite those complaints, I’m happy enough with the G100 that I’ve decided to begin replacing my Ring cameras with Aqara cameras throughout my home. The ease of setup, image quality, HomeKit Secure Video support, and overall flexibility have won me over. Whether you’re an Apple Home user today or prefer another smart home platform, Aqara gives you the freedom to choose the ecosystem that works best for you without feeling locked into a single vendor. That’s something I wish more manufacturers would do. If Aqara improves the installation documentation and includes a longer cable, this camera would be very close to perfect.

Excellent Outdoor Apple HomeKit Camera
Excellent Apple Home Secure Video camera (HKSV). I got this camera to use in my backyard. I am only using it with Apple HomeKit. It has been perfect. I was able to set it up and add it to Apple Home right out of the box. The picture is clear and crisp. The colors look good. It doesn’t lag or skip or anything like that. I’ve been happy with it. It is also currently -25 degrees Fahrenheit here and it continues to work brilliantly while my battery operated cameras all shut themselves down. Apple Home is limited to 1080P so the Aqara app would probably look even better. That is a limitation by Apple. Whaddya gonna do? The audio is not great though. It’s a tiny camera with a tinny little mic. That is a non-issue for my use case but if audio is important to you, be aware that the audio is poor. That is very common of cameras this size and pricepoint. I would not want to use it at my front door if I needed to communicate with people. Night vision is OK. Better than I expected but not great. But if you want a solid HomeKit camera to see your yard outside, this is the way to go. Just remember that your experience with this camera is heavily influenced by your Wi-Fi. This is true of all cameras. If you don’t have good Wi-Fi, no camera will work very well. If you plan on mounting it on the side of your house, be aware that you will probably need to purchase a longer power cable, depending on where your power connection is.

Promising HomeKit-friendly camera, but the image quality is not quite Nest-level
I’ve been looking for a real path away from the Google/Nest camera ecosystem. I used to love the old Nest app because I could see all of my cameras on one screen, they refreshed reliably, and the whole system felt polished. Since the move into the Google Home app, that experience has not been nearly as good for me. Cameras go offline more often, the layout is not as clean, and it just does not feel like the same product anymore. At the same time, I have a pretty robust Apple HomeKit setup with Lutron lighting, Philips Hue, Schlage locks, and other Matter-friendly devices, so this Aqara camera felt like a good first step toward testing whether I could slowly move more of my home camera into Apple Home. There are definitely things to like here. The price is very compelling. The camera itself is compact, clean-looking, and I really appreciate that it uses USB-C. That alone is a nice improvement over a lot of the Nest/Google hardware I have used. Setup was also very easy. After downloading the Aqara app and creating an account, I had the camera connected quickly, and adding it into Apple Home was just as painless. So far, reliability has also been good. In the Apple Home app, the camera preview does not refresh in real time from the main screen, but when I open the camera view itself, the feed updates live. Since I already pay for iCloud storage, being able to use this with HomeKit Secure Video without adding another dedicated camera subscription is a big plus. The main downside is image quality. This is a 2K camera, so I was not expecting it to compete directly with higher-end 4K cameras, but resolution is only part of the story. The overall image just does not look as crisp, colorful, or as refined as my Google and Nest cameras. It is hard to fully capture in a screenshot, but the picture looks more basic than I hoped. The sensor and optics just do not feel like they are at the same level. It is totally usable, but it is not the kind of image quality that makes me want to immediately buy a half dozen cameras, doorbells, etc. and replace my current 4k setup. Overall, I like the direction Aqara is going here. The camera is affordable, compact, easy to set up, HomeKit-friendly, and so far it has been reliable. That said, the image quality is the thing holding it back for me. If the video looked a little better, I would probably start buying more of these and slowly migrate away from Google/Nest. As it stands, I will keep this as an additional camera in my setup (maybe pick up one more at the Prime sale price, which is incredible) and continue watching how the Aqara camera lineup develops. I know there is a higher end model in the lineup, but a few of the reviews on it are holding me back from spending the 3x more money on it. Good first step, just not quite a full Nest replacement for me yet.

Excellent security camera at an excellent price.
I am a big fan of Aqara products because they offer a range of high quality products at reasonable pricing. This camera is a good example, its under 40$ and provides excellent picture quality. I installed this camera outside of my home to replace my old Lorex camera. The main reason was to create an automation that worked with my Aqara Door lock. Anytime the door unlocks, the camera plays a voice recording so anyone outside knows they can enter. This is a perfect setup that works well with my remote button and Google home app. The picture quality is great and there many features that the old Lorex camera didn't have (Richards more expensive BTW). So far, I am very pleased with this camera and will recommend it to anyone.

Great features and video quality, but major connectivity issues forced a return
I had high hopes for the Aqara G100 Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera. On paper, it has everything I was looking for to upgrade my home setup: crisp 2K resolution, integration with Apple HomeKit Secure Video, functional 2-way audio, and a built-in spotlight for color night vision. When it was working, the video feed was incredibly sharp, and the local AI detection features were very responsive. The HomeKit integration was seamless right out of the box, and the spotlight was bright enough to illuminate my entryway clearly. The hardware itself feels sturdy and well-suited for outdoor weather. However, my 3-star rating is entirely due to the fact that it kept losing connectivity. Despite being placed well within the range of a powerful, stable mesh Wi-Fi network that handles all my other smart home gear flawlessly, this camera would randomly drop offline multiple times a week. The only way to get it back online was to power cycle the unit, which completely defeats the purpose of a reliable security camera—especially if you're away from home when it drops. I spent a few weeks trying to troubleshoot the issue with static IPs and router adjustments, but the dropped connections persisted. Because a security camera needs to be 100% dependable, I ultimately sent the item back for a refund. If you can get a unit that holds a stable signal, it’s a feature-packed camera for the price. But for me, the connectivity frustrations were a dealbreaker.

Reliable and capable Apple HomeKit camera that won’t break the bank!
I bought several Aquara G100s to integrate with Apple home and replace some 5-year old Logitech cameras that were starting to fail. Video is a lot clearer and they seem to be capturing more events. Night vision is a HUGE step up - surprisingly good with infrared turned off (some dim landscape lights left on overnight provide enough light for these cameras to record in color) Note that initially I put a 32gb micro sd card in each camera as I was thinking of recording clips on the cameras as well as in Apple home. I wound up turning that feature off in the Aqara app (along with local AI recognition and notifications) as Apple home is handling it all just fine on its own. It’s nice that the app makes many configurations available. Great upgrade at much lower cost. Would buy again.

The dog cam upgrade we didn't know we needed
Set this up in our dog's room so we can check on him while we're out of the house and it has genuinely been one of the best home tech purchases we've made. Video quality is outstanding — easily some of the best I've seen at the consumer level. Clear, sharp, and the 2K resolution actually makes a difference when you're trying to see what your dog is getting into. Setup on mine was completely painless. Bought a second one as a gift for my dad and that one gave us a bit more trouble, but we eventually got it sorted — pretty sure that was his spotty wifi more than anything to do with the camera itself. One thing worth knowing if you're running HomeKit: my wife can't view the feed through the HomeKit interface when she's off our home wifi. She can see it just fine in the Aqara app though. My best guess is this is an HKSV/iCloud+ subscription issue rather than anything wrong with the camera, but it's something to be aware of depending on your setup. Other than that quirk, this thing is a home run. We're already planning to replace all of our cameras with Aqara products. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Excellent Camera, Terrible App and Setup Experience
I really wanted to like this camera because the hardware is nice, the image quality is good, and it integrates with Apple HomeKit. Unfortunately, the software experience completely ruined it for me. Setting up the camera took hours. My first camera would not recognize multiple compatible 64GB microSD cards. I exchanged it for a second camera, only to run into repeated app errors during setup, including server errors (502 Bad Gateway) and “Failed to obtain the cloud certificate” (Unauthorized operation Code -1011), preventing the camera from being added. I spent additional money on a second microSD card and a replacement camera, but the Aqara app continued to fail. The hardware may be good, but if the app cannot reliably activate the device, none of the features matter. Customer support was not helpful, and after spending hours troubleshooting, I still couldn’t get a dependable setup experience. If you enjoy troubleshooting, you may eventually get it working. If you want something that just works, be aware that the software and server reliability may be the biggest weakness of this product. Pros: * Good image quality * Compact design * Apple HomeKit support Cons: * Unreliable app * Setup errors * Cloud/server issues * Frustrating activation process * Poor overall first impression I would have given this product a much higher rating if the app and setup experience matched the quality of the hardware. Right now, they don’t. Also Eufy’s app seems nicer to navigate and more minimalist, simple.

Consigliatissima.

Cudo!
Na razie same superlatywy!

5 verdiente Sterne!

Good quality cameras with lots of features for the price, notably NAS and Homekit
I own two of these for monitoring my garage and my backyard. They have a lot of features for the price. They work flawlessly with Apple Home, albeit at slightly reduced resolution (1080p max). They work in low light very well - the LED light provides enough illumination for colour video at night at a distance of about 3-4 metres or about 10-12 feet, but there is also infrared video which does not require the spot light. One of them is exposed to cold temperatures (about -8C or 18F) and works perfectly. The NAS functionality works but required a bit of effort as they could not recognize my NAS all the time; I had to keep refreshing and checking every day until it showed up and then once connected, they don't seem to have trouble transferring files. The AI functionality could use some work - I may be asking a bit much, but I get false positive for motion when lighting and exposure change; I'd like to see fewer false positives caused by changes in lighting. Overall, I have been impressed with these cameras so far.
