It is definitely personal preference. The aerosol has a sturdier construction if your were to take it backpacking or more extreme activities.

Yes, it is safe for clothing. It also does not need to be washed off after use like DEET products do.

Very smelly

If you are looking for a low odor product, this is not for you. It worked to keep away mosquitos, but it is very smelly. If you are chemical smell sensitive, try a different product.
