Great product with a lot more uses than you might think.
This thing is awesome. I used it for my cybersecurity training, but it also is just a great wifi antenna for all kinds of other projects. I set up a raspberry pi with older wifi security in order to get my psp online again when no modern routers will even connect to it anymore. Can also use it for the same thing to practice cybersecurity projects against older wifi security standards. Great product with a lot more uses than you might think.

True AR9271 - Works as an AP
One of my projects is maintaining a WiFi connection library for embedded devices, and as part of this project I wanted to set up a way to automatically test changes. Since the library connects an embedded device to WiFi, I needed a way to spin up a WiFi network on the fly to test with. Using this WiFi adapter and a Raspberry Pi, I now have automated testing set up. This works perfectly in Raspberry Pi OS (Raspbian), has a true AR9271, and can function as an AP. If you need a Linux-compatible USB WiFi adapter, this is the one for you.

works pretty good, the AR 9271 is considered to be one of the better wi-fi chips
Fairly decent 2.4 USB wireless, works well it has a fairly Good Ship in it that seems to be a little more sensitive and block out some of the trash. I'm using it on one of my older laptops. Put a reverse SMA adapter on it, so that I could hook it to a external antenna and use it for testing my Wi-Fi antenna designs. Seems to work a lot better than my linksys, or the other generic one I bought. It's about the size of a standard flash drive. So you might want to get a short USB to USB cable and not put any strain on the connector. You can also stick a piece of Velcro on it and stick it to the back of your laptop screen. But generally I've had good results, oh also the drivers are a little confusing. When you go to download them you're going to be hit with several different ones to try. So there's a little bit of a learning curve, I'm using it under your Windows 7 without any problems. They don't provide a CD or disk you have to download them from the website. Why they can't just store the driver's, on some little memory chip inside the unit I don't know. That would be a nice feature

EXCELLENT FOR WINDOWS OR LINUX DISTROS
Works perfectly and as advertised. If you intend to use it in Windows 10/11, install it then go to Windows Update | Additional Drivers to install the required Windows driver. There is NO need to search for the manufacturer's website and download from there. Windows will install the proper driver under Windows Update. The 1-star reviews about no driver are simply wrong. My GNU/Linux Parrot OS Security Edition distro running under VMWare recognized it immediately and connected...no external driver had to be installed. Under Parrot, I commanded Monitor mode in Airgeddon and proceeded to test against my wireless router. Worked perfectly. Promptly received a handshake using attack vector #2. Inexpensive. Works as designed. Great value.

Garbage. Even my internal wireless card has better signal to a distant hotspot
Connected to a hotspot, ran iwconfig and I got this output. wlp0s20f3 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"XXXXX" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: REDACTED Bit Rate=57.8 Mb/s Tx-Power=22 dBm Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Power Management:on Link Quality=33/70 Signal level=-77 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:35 Missed beacon:0 wlxc01c30113bf5 IEEE 802.11 ESSID:"REDACTED" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: REDACTED Bit Rate=19.5 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm Retry short limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Power Management:off Link Quality=27/70 Signal level=-83 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:1 Invalid misc:104 Missed beacon:0 The best it can do is enter monitor mode.

Linux Mint 20: NO driver(s) needed. Plug and play!
While plug and play dongles are common for Windows, those of us who prefer Linux have to deal with the many dongles that require VERY complicated and/or unreliable installation. This device is economical, well-made, and is truly plug and play. What a relief! To be fair this unit is made to the 802.11n standard (150 mb/s, 2.4Ghz), but that is quite enough, not to mention - again - plug n play, and inexpensive. I spent hours trying to find a faster PnP unit, but there isn't one. It speed tests fine, good numbers, solid and reliable. Add to this it's antenna, easy disassembly, this is a unit you can carry with you and use to replace a failing WIFI adaptor, or to amplify signal in sketchy locations.

Works natively with Ubuntu 18.04 but...
As advertised, this does work with Ubuntu, but I noticed non-stop drive activity slowing things down and driving up temps. Found it was causing endless journal log error messages. Soon as I disabled wireless networking it stopped. Also caused boot problems. System would hang in BIOS during boot, had to be removed to boot correctly. My BIOS is set to defaults, safest possible settings. This is an old system running the 32 bit version of Linux. This product is perfectly usable for short periods, and I go delete all the Journal entries afterward. I liked the removable antenna, that lets me use a better one. It's probably perfect on newer systems, I'm not using it now.

Works great.
Bought this specifically for arm linux (odroid n2+) based on the extensive list over at github (USB_WiFi_Adapters_that_are_supported_with_Linux_in-kernel_drivers). Running armbian 22.11.1 on kernel 6.0.13. Need to install Ath9k firmware.

This is a TP-Link TL-WN722N v1 (Atheros AR9271)
For anyone searching for a TP-Link TL-WN722N v1, this is it in an unbranded form (drivers installed show it as a v1 chip set (Atheros AR9271). No issues to report so far. Build quality is exactly as you would expect at the price point :)
