Very Stable & Secure
I really like this bike carrier. I have a Honda Crosstour and need the tilt feature. I had a cheaper one from Walmart that was just terrible. When I installed the the Walmart one it wobbled, swayed and was a real pain in the butt to get bikes situated and loaded, it was returned. This carrier went together in 15 minutes and it fit so very securely in the hitch that I was amazed. After putting it together I placed it into the receiver (2") tightened it with the easy to use locking knob (make certain you have unlocked it, otherwise it will just turn and have no effect on tightening). The rack was as tight as it could be with no wobble at all. I was lucky to get this at the sale price ($99) and I had been watching it for a few weeks. I understand that they drop the price from time to time. It would be easily worth full price because it is that good (for me), at the price I paid I am extremely happy. BTW I put two bikes on and drove to the trail and I was impressed by the lack of movement ....Great Rack..

It has been over 2 years since purchasing this according to my ordering history.
So after over 2 years of using this 5-6 days a week and having the rack bake in the Arizona sun every day, I figured it was a good time to give my perspective. First the rubber straps on the premiere are as rubbery as the day I got the rack. The sun and heat have not ruined them yet. I have a heavy mountain bike with larger wheels and tires. The rubber straps are excellent at holding my bike and preventing sway by themselves. Skinnier frame bikes like my spouses require an extra strap. So instead of strapping the front tire to bike frame, I strap the front tire to the rack frame (see photo). Problem solved. I have a 1.25in receiver. The rack goes in easily and tightens up to where my 350lb body cannot wiggle it in the frame. This rack has held up extremely well. I wash my rack when I wash my car. It is important that my rack looks clean otherwise why even detail my car. The rack has some rust spot here and there, but rust isn't really an issue in our dry heat and the rust is on the non black areas and not really visible. Rust may be an issue in humid climates though. I like how close the bike rack is on my car. I can park my car in the garage with a bike on my car and still have plenty of clearance to close my garage door. see photo. I take speed bumps faster than I should. My bike doesn't move much. I don't know if my hitch and vehicle are perfect for the rack or if other reviewers had installation issues, but I am so happy with how stable the rack is. I have had trouble with Thule and Yakima in the past, but I have not had one issue in the past 2 years with the Allen rack. I honestly did not expect this to last a year, but I am pleasantly surprised. I came onto Amazon to upgrade to a 4 bike rack and will be purchasing an Allen again, but I just felt I needed to add my experience as I just don't understand some of the reviews. If your hitch doesn't have a hitch pin hole, that isn't Allen's fault. 95% of all personal vehicle hitches have pin holes. Anyway. Great hanging rack that has served me well.

Quality bike mount!
I had a hard time choosing a bike rack hitch mount, but I'm glad I chose this one. The main reason for my hesitation was how it impacted my ability to use the tailgate on my truck. I found very little information about this on Amazon. I drive a Honda Ridgeline and am delighted to report that this mount tilts enough for my tailgate to be used normally. I do not have to worry about removing the mount every time I need access to my truck bed/ compartment. The Ridgeline has a shorter (height) tailgate compared to other trucks. If you have a standard size tailgate then YMMV. The mount itself is very easy to install. It works flawlessly. My bike does not wiggle or shift at all when driving, even over rough terrain or when driving fast. 2 minor qualms I have with the product. 1. I have not found a place to lock my bike to the hitch to prevent bike theft. A decent sized hole would've been appreciated to run a average size bike lock through. My bike lock may be the issue, however. 2. The rests that support the bike frame are too loose. I frequently have to fiddle with them while lifting my bike into place. I don't know if this was intentional, but I do not see why they would be turned in any direction other than "up". All in all, you will not be disappointed with this mount. P.S. I did splurge for the more expensive model. While I believe the price is too high for what you get, the included features are definitely nice.

It’s a good rack
I spent hours reading reviews and features of countless bike racks for my SUV & step-thru bike. In general, this one hit all the features, came with a great warranty from Allan, and had overall positive reviews. The assembly was simple & easy to follow. The rubberized straps hold my bike well and feel secure. The tilting feature works well to get the tailgate open. My only issue is that the post the bike sits on is a bit wobbly. I hoped that once the weight of the bike was on it, this would resolve but it didn’t. There is definitely some play in the post where the release for the tilt feature is, which gives me some worry while transporting my bike, but beyond that it’s a great rack. I have used it for over 1,000 miles at highway speeds & driving and it has held up well. I added straps to stabilize the wheels, and an additional strap to wrap the bike, top tube arm, and rack together for peace of mind.

Awesome features, just a few problem for me.
I love this product. At this price point it is hard to beat. Many reviews said that it won’t lock well in place and I thought I had the same problem but going through the Instructions again I realize that it was my fault and after following the instructions, they fit very well with no movement in my 2 inch hitch. Now the issue... one of the features this rack has Is the arm that holds the bikes can be put down and won’t stick out when not in uses. There are these sections that would hold the arms down and in place when it is not in use that when it is in use, they stick out and interferes with the bike placed closest to the vehicle. I have a mountain bike and so am sure if I had a road bike this would not be a problem. I ended up cutting off the side that contacts my bike and created a little bit of a distance so it won’t damage my bike. The only other issue I have with it was rust. I live on a tropical island and it has been raining a lot lately. I have kept my rack on my vehicle Since I received it. It started to rust in some areas and required me to sand and repaint. Do note that rust is an issue where I live but I didn’t think that this would be a problem within a month of me having this. It’s really no big deal for me but worth pointing out.

Great bike rack!
Bought the Premiere Locking version. Glad I did. Super easy assembly. Just need a few wrenches to tighten bolts. Very solid construction with good attention to detail. I had no issues with mine at all - just use your brain and you’ll do great. Love the twist-to-secure hitch feature. Locks very well. Just a nifty feature. The tilt-away quick-lever is a very nifty feature! Love it. Glad I got the one with that instead of the “U-pin”. Bike did not wobble at all. Transported super safely. Will still always put an extra strap to make sure it can’t accidentally fall off the rack while driving. It comes with a nice extra strap to secure your wheels, etc. Would definitely recommend for the price.

only bike rack I've ever loved
As a small middle-aged woman I have always had a problem with our bike racks. Too tall, too hard to lift my bike onto it, too hard to get into the back cargo of my suv, too hard to flip down to open the trunk. I have been using this model for months now and I absolutely love it! I show it off to every one of my friends, even ones who don't own a bike and probably don't care! I can easily get my bike on, flip the rack down to get into my truck or cargo, holds the bike securely....does everything I have wanted in a bike rack. THANK YOU for getting it right! ( I have been struggling with this for nearly 20 years- my husband keeps buying bike racks INSISTING this one should be easy for me but they are not. This one is the real deal)

May Not Work with Tri and Time Trial Bikes--and good luck finding that out
This is a review on the lack of information, inflexibility of Amazon and Allen, poor customer service, and my own mistake. I would rate the bike carrier on how well it carries my bike but I can't. The bike carrier won't carry my Specialized Shiv triathlon bike. And that is the issue. I purchased this carrier in early May 2023 and assembled it as soon as it arrived. No issues with assembly. Nice job. I bought the bike carrier in May because it was on special but for a race in October. I did not have a hitch on my car yet so I could not put the carrier on the car. In mid August with a hitch on my car and the race 10 weeks away I installed the bike carrier and attempted to load my bike. My Shiv will not go on the carrier arms. The picture of the back of a car shows the width of the carrier arm assembly at 13.5 inches. This is the feature that goes under the top tube to support the bike. The picture of the bike shows the opening under the top tube on the Shiv is only 11 inches. There is no fix. I first talked to Allen customer service and determined that there was no fix and that I would have to talk to Amazon. I offered to take partial credit toward the purchase of a bike carrier that would work but I was politely told there is nothing we can do. Talk to Amazon. Amazon said too bad. Because the purchase was more than 30 days ago and more than any customer service agent's discretionary limit there was nothing they could do. I have no idea how I would have known to check the width of the carrier arm assembly and bike top tube. I don't see it in any of the product information/technical specs. Because I needed a hitch before I could load a bike and there was no warning or note about the carrier arm assembly, felt I had done all that was necessary to insure the carrier didn't have any issues. My mistake. I should have found a way to insure the bike would fit. I have a low opinion of Allen and its customer service. They are the only entity that could get any value from the carrier. It is assembled but never loaded on a car and, obviously, never had a bike loaded. But they treated me as if I was not a customer and the problem with their product has nothing to do with them. I wonder now if their warrantee applies if you buy a carrier through Amazon or if you will just get a "Talk to Amazon."

the quick connect system is great ! no ratchet needed to take on and off
i really wanted something i could take on and off quickly and i noticed many of these required you to have a ratchet handy... I wasn't sure how this one would work but i've used it a few times now and the system works quite well to hand tighten the wheel to secure the rack into the hitch. Unit seems quite solid as well. Only things to keep in mind is that the 'locking' mechanism only locks the rack, not the bike so you'd need to buy a cable if you need to lock the bike too. Also, the pictures showed blue but they shipped black - that was fine with me but you should know it's not blue (which I thought would have been cool but oh well)
