Whynter FM85G 85-quart Portable Fridge Freezer Platinum

Bought the 85qt in 2020 for our move from Washington State to Texas. Put it in the back of our Sequoia. We kept our snacks and my wife's insulin supply in it. When we stopped at night at motels, I have a small dolly/cart that fit it perfectly. We wheeled the frig into our room and I would change the power cord from DC to AC. Worked like a lifesaver. Literally. It is now 2026 and the unit has been running constantly since the move. We still use it for the insulin and cold drinks in the house. The temperature has never fluctuated, nor has the compressor had any issues. Portability is a tad heavy, but it has handles on each end and the cart has helped. Very easy to set up and operate. Very satisfied with the unit and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This was used as a freezer for two weeks in 30 degree centigrade heat. It had no problem keeping the temperature I set of 4 degrees Fahrenheit. The end of the 12v plug fell apart after 1 week and needed to be replaced. The handles are still fine but I wouldn't load it up and move it with the handles.

We purchased this to our RV, since our fridge seemed unreliable. The efficiency and reliability totally surprised us. We use this as a fridge only, even though it is possible to use it as freezer as well. When you open the lid, since the cold air compresses to the bottom the cold stays in the fridge it seems very high efficiency. We use it mainly for items that are easy to stack, containers and drinks. We have been really happy with our purchase and wish we did it a long time ago. It uses very little energy and is fed by solar at our RV, so we can keep it running anytime. :) The only negative is the same that is the biggest positive, which is the chest opening door, they take more room, since you can't store items on top of it. We have a place for it though, since we removed one of the back seats of our RV (unusual layout) and have it there.

I waited to write this review until I had some experience with the product. Have now used it for five different trips dry camping with ten to fourteen people. Each time I used it as a freezer. I have to admit I am extremely impressed with its performance! It usually runs about eighteen hours off of a 100 amp hour deep cycle battery plugged into directly with 12 volt. This allows me to recharge the battery via my generator for approximately 4hrs daily. My fellow campers were surprised that I was able to serve ice cream several days into our trip! And no more trips to get $4 a bag ice in remote areas. I have found that for best results to start the freezer the day before you plan on leaving, pre freeze anything you plan on bringing. This unit will go from ambient temperature to -8 degrees F. in less than two hours. When I convert to DC from AC, I adjust the temp. up to 8 degrees F., and it cycles between 7 to 13 degrees F. This reduces the load off of my house battery. When I get into camp, I take it off the house battery and use a second deep cycle to run the freezer. I bring along a battery charger to charge the freezer battery at the same time I charge my house battery. Hint: You can plug both DC & AC cords at the same time. When the generator is running it defaults to AC and the battery will charge faster. Exceeds all of my expectations!

I have tried to put this so it can work as a fridge it never . so I now only use it as a freezer and for this it works well.
