Melissa & Doug DYO Butterfly Box, Multi Color

Melissa & Doug products are always the best! I am an adult and I bought this kit for myself. The butterfly box kit comes with 1 butterfly box, 12 gem stickers, 4 paint pots, 1 paint brush, 1 pink glitter glue, and 1 white glue. The box is small in length, height, and width. It can fit doll accessories, beads, small trinkets, and jewelry. The paint dries fast and the colors are more vibrant when you apply a second coat. I recommend applying the glue last because it takes much longer for the glue to dry and it's a little stinky. The white glue dries clear, I didn't know it would be clear until I applied some on the box. I painted over the glue with white paint once it was dried. The pink glitter glue has a lighter pink color when dried. You can paint over the butterfly design on the top and the design of the butterfly still shows through the layers of paint applied. I tried to make my box look similar to the picture on the packaging. Once the outside was dry I painted the inside of the box and lid, then added the gem stickers. My only critique is the paint brush bristles were very flimsy and soft, so it didn't provide much paint coverage on the area being painted and was hard to create a design with it. I used a regular paint brush I had at home instead. Overall I enjoyed making it, and there's some paint and glue left over I can use for another craft project. It took about 2 hours to complete (not including time for the glue to dry). It was a nice small project to do on my day off from work. This product would be a great arts and crafts project for kids. The paint and glue also washes off of skin and surfaces easily with soap and warm water. The box is well made and should last a long time.

Pretty cute - used for a gift box decorated by granddaughter (2.5 yo) for gift to grandma. The gems aren’t stickers and need to be glued - stickers / self-adhesive would have been preferred but we managed! The pink glitter glue takes a while to dry but did set eventually.

I will tell you that for the price, this little box is simply adorable. My daughter is 9 years old and really had a fun time painting it and using all the neat little gems it comes with. She signed it afterwards and plans to keep it for years to come. Great for storing her little rings and necklaces in.

First it is cute second I didn't get it for mother's Day and like I was supposed to third just because it's a butterfly when it's made for girls doesn't mean you just give girly colours like let's be honest I don't think I've ever seen a butterfly those colours add a variety of colours
