What do you connect this to?** A: It is simply a clock. Connect it in parallel to any 12V device that is on when the tractor is running. If no such devices exist, then connect it to a 12V - 24V battery thru a switch. Turn it on when you start the tractor and off when stop. **Q: Are they back lit?** A: No it is not back lit. Need to mount where it is easy to see. **Q: What is the real size required for mounting? previous answers vary from 1.3 t0 1.5 to 1.8. which is it?? anyone have a ruler?** A: It measures 7/8" height x 1 13/32" width **Q: I see you claim these are not water proof, but can it be used on a riding mower when it occassionally be in the rain?** A: I had one of these hour meters on my flats boat (salt water) for nearly 10 years with no issues. I replaced it with one from Amazon because I had the powerhead on the motor replaced, so the hour meter had to be zeroed out. I expect this replacement model to last. ## Frequently Bought Together - ATOPLEE Mechanical Hour Meter 12v to 36v Truck Tractor Diesel Outboard Engine Hour Meter Rectangular - Mechanical Hour Meter Gauge - AIMILAR Professional Engine Hourmeter DC 8-80V for Boat Auto ATV UTV Snowmobile Lawn Tractors Generators (DC8-80V) - AIMILAR Mechanical Hour Meter AC 110V-250V for Small Engines, Boats, Generators and More - 6 Digit Display with Easy Installation and High Accuracy --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/7792988-dc-12-36v-mechanical-hour-meter-for-generator-tractor-boat](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/7792988-dc-12-36v-mechanical-hour-meter-for-generator-tractor-boat) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-11-03*
