the E400 has detachable MMCX connector cables. Any cable with MMCX connectors should work. There are also Bluetooth MMCX connectors available if you choose to go that route. Example: Shure BT1 / BT2. Westone has a Bluetooth MMCX connector as well. Try searching Amazon for 'MMCX cable with microphone'.

intended for over ear use?

Will the E4000 plug in to my sony receiver?

The plug on the E4000 is 1/8" or 2.5mm. Your Sony receiver headphone jack is probably 1/4" or 6.35mm. If this is the case, you will need a 1/8" to 1/4" adaptor to connect the E4000 to your receiver.
