Xplorer Grip Pro for Insta360 Ace Pro – Review
Xplorer Grip Pro for Insta360 Ace Pro – Review The Xplorer Grip Pro is a solid upgrade for the Insta360 Ace Pro, especially if you actually use your camera handheld. I really like the cleaner, less industrial look compared to other cages—it feels more refined and intentional. The hand grip is excellent and comfortable for longer shooting sessions, and the extra battery is a huge plus for extended filming without constantly swapping packs. The added buttons and dials are another standout feature. They make controlling the camera feel more intuitive and professional, especially when adjusting settings on the fly. My main complaint is access to the memory card. Having to remove the camera from the cage just to get to the SD card is inconvenient and breaks the workflow, especially when transferring footage quickly. Overall, it’s a great grip with smart features and solid ergonomics—just held back slightly by the SD card access design.

Made my Ace Pro 2 easy to hold
This grip kit is a great addition to the Insta360 Ace Pro 2. It made a big difference when it came to holding the camera, especially while vlogging and taking photos, the grip feels much more natural and comfortable compared to using the camera on its own. The built-in battery is also a huge plus. It helped keep my Ace Pro 2 charged throughout the day, which was really useful when I was out for long periods without worrying about running out of power. The overall build quality feels solid and well-designed, and everything fits together nicely. It’s easy to use and adds a lot of convenience without making the setup feel bulky. Overall, definitely worth it if you use your Ace Pro 2 often and I’d highly recommend it.

Best grip for the Ace Pro 2!
This is an awesome grip! Turns the action camera into a mini camera that packs a punch! I honestly didn’t know how I was going to like it, but I love it. Makes the use of everything so much easier and I feel it’s better protected from a fall. The extra battery life makes it worth it on its own. The included strap is a quality piece. The overall build quality is great and worth the money. I shoot with Sony cameras and this is going to be my mini go to set up. Fits in my pocket with ease. The functional of the buttons make go to settings easier to navigate settings and overall a functional grip.

This feels good. Looks good. Fits my hand perfect!!! It's like a mini DSLR/Mirrorless... The extra battery is a good boost, so far, I'm really happy with my purchase!

Worthy upgrade
Unpopular opinion, they over thought it. I was excited to get this updated grip, that was getting rave reviews, I do like it, or better the idea behind it, but for me, there several issues, most could be addressed with firmware. Pros- Shutter button is great, perfectly placed, easy to use, and customizable, Connection is quick, and easy Ergonomics are good, not great. Zoom toggle is a useful addition, and easy to use. Although the regular xplorer grip shutter button had that satisfying click, that click was also in every clip you recorded, that is now gone-thank you. The magnetic adapter is now much easier to remove, as the connection is no longer recessed. Cons- -Battery, I personally feel you should be able to choose if the battery tops off the camera battery or not. I and most I would imagine, carry extra batteries. But when the grip is feeding the main, and you run it down, the functions are gone, it's now just a grip. *While writing this, I checked, there is an update, and a toggle for powering the camera, it states >15%, I will have to test this function, It should be that you can completely disconnect this grip battery from the main. -Connection - It is a pain to remove the battery door, to use this grip, and then reinstall when not. Like GoPro, repeated install/removal will lead to buying a new door. Also, the USB C connector moved independent from the housing, so you need nails, or finger grip strength to disconnect it. -Wheel - A nice addition, with some customization, I have found it to be way to easy to move it unintended, changing whatever function you have chosen. -Power button - Something I really liked about the standard grip, was the ease of use for the power button. It is now very recessed, a minor annoyance, but it is there. I personally don't utilize the shutter button-instant on record, as it leads to accidental use. -Wrist Strap - It is now way better than the paracord monstrosity that came with the standard, but I find the acorn shaped connector to be fiddly, and difficult to operate one handed, just partner with Peak, or user buy one. Overall, it is a major step in the right direction, and if you are going to use your AP2 for photography, it is a worthwhile upgrade. Keep your "Old" grip, and use it as a cage (The grip comes off) and you don't need an L bracket.

Review: Great for Photography, Frustrating for Action
I picked up the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Xplorer Grip Pro Kit to give my camera more of a traditional point-and-shoot feel. When it works, it is a fantastic bit of kit that makes the camera much more ergonomic for street photography, but it isn’t without its flaws. Connectivity Issues My biggest gripe is the reliability. The connection doesn't always seem to sync up correctly between the grip and the camera. There have been several times where I've had to unplug the camera and plug it back in just to get the shutter button or dial to respond. It is definitely not fun when you are trying to capture a candid moment and have to troubleshoot your hardware instead. Price vs. Value At $99, it feels a bit steep for what it is. Given the occasional software hiccups and the build, I feel it should have been priced closer to $79. You are paying a premium for the integrated battery (2010mAh) and the physical controls, but the execution isn't quite at a "pro" level yet. Who is this for? If you are primarily into photography and want your action cam to feel like a real camera, this is worth checking out—just be prepared for some minor frustrations. However, if you are strictly using the Ace Pro 2 as an action cam for mounting on helmets or bikes, I would say skip this and stick to the standard mounts. Pros: Greatly improves ergonomics for handheld shooting. Built-in battery significantly extends the Ace Pro 2's runtime. Physical dial and shutter button are great for tactile control (when connected). Cons: Connection can be finicky and requires occasional re-plugging. $99 price tag feels high for the reliability offered. Blocks quick access to the camera's internal battery. Final Verdict: A solid concept that needs more polished firmware to justify the price. Recommended for photographers, but action junkies should look elsewhere.
