I have been wanting a Rode PS1 (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B001D7UYBO), or a Blue Compass (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B078MLBGRM) microphone boom but they were priced a little more than I wanted to spend. I figured they were all about the same, so I bought the cheapo Neweer (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B00DFUEZZI), which turned out to be much like all the others I had ever used. They did their jobs fine. Then recently I saw this one for $60 that looked a lot like the Rode but was half the price, so I bought it and MAN am I glad I did. I didn't really know just how lightweight and crappy the Neweer was until I unboxed this one. You can see the difference in size in the picture I included with this review. The Neweer is much smaller and the extra range that this Innogear has is so nice. I also like the fact that the springs are internal and somehow sound dampened when they move so it doesn't make that "sproing kriiiing" sound that the cheaper one makes when you move it. This one moves silently. It is a bit stiffer than the Neweer, but I like that; though I presume I could adjust it with a phillips screwdriver if I wanted... Checking: Nope, the stiffness isn't really adjustable, so that may be an issue for some people, but I quite like it. The one thing that I would ding it for is that the table clamp base is made of plastic instead of cast metal like the Neweer is. So far it seems sturdy enough and isn't worth a whole star so I'm leaving the review at five stars, but if they were to make it with a steel or cast aluminum base with a nylon insert to make pivoting smooth, then I'd be a little happier. Overall it's a superb microphone boom arm and you definitely cannot complain for the price. I haven't directly compared it to the Rode PSA1 or Blue Compass, because I haven't gotten my hands on either of those, but I can't imagine a better boom arm than this one, especially after having used the Neweer and other cheapies in the same class, for years. Review: Awesome for heavy microphones! - I got this arm because I didn't want to spend $100 on Rode's PSA01. I am glad I chose this for my G Track Pro. I did have a chance to try the Rode arm, and it is a nice product. It's just too expensive. I will give it the fact that it also held up my mic fine, and it doesn't take as much effort to adjust it as this arm. That can be seen as both, an advantage and a disadvantage though, so take it how you will. Pros: 1. STIFF! It doesn't appear to be the typical springy arm. You muscle it into position and it stays exactly where you set it. 2. Well built. Doesn't squeak, paint is good, materials are tough steel. Everything moves smoothly! 3. Packaging is just basic cardboard with a label, and it comes with Velcro straps, desk mounting clamp, and a warranty card. It doesn't really need instructions but it also has that as well. 4. Price! For what it is, I don't see any reason to get the Rode arm over this if you're trying to save some money. Cons: 1. If I had to choose anything, I'd say that it can wobble a bit once it's mounted in its base clamp. I think that's something that can be easily rectified by stuffing a little paper or something in the mounting hole to make it a tighter fit. 2. The 5/8" microphone adapter could use some sort of texture so that it can be actually tightened a little bit because as it is now, you reach the last thread and it stops. So if you slightly move your mic back it will loosen again. This can be a problem for depending on how you position your mic relative to its mounting point. It can be tightened with pliers but I feel like it should have SOME texture to grab it and tighten it. Take everything I said with a grain of salt as I just received and set it up. I own both and this one is a bit better when paired with a Shure SM7B as the part that screws into the mic is a bit longer which allows for more pivoting movement of the mic while mounted. With the Rode PSA the XLR jack comes in contact with the mic mount which prevents rotating the mic. **Q: Can this rode podmic be screwed into this arm? also, can this hold the rode podmic?** A: Yes I have a PodMic on this exact arm (the large size one) and it works perfectly. I was uncertain if the weight of the PodMic (which is surprisingly heavy) would be able to be held with this arm but it does so without a problem. I've been using it for a few months now and it hasn't sagged or had any problems. And yes, it does screw in to this without an issue. **Q: Will the small version hold the Elgato Wave 3 with shock mount and pop filter or Will i need the large version?** A: I have the larger-size stand and would recommend it if you want the stand to stay out of the way of multiple computer monitors (the lower arm raises it above the level of a 26" monitor. My stand has no problem holding an sE Electronics X1-s condensor mic with a plastic shock mount that together weigh over a pound. It easily supports this mic and shock mount with confidence. The Elgato Wave 3 weighs only about 10 ounces, so it should be just fine on this stand even with a shock mount. I've very pleased with this stand (again, I bought the larger size and highly recommend it). **Q: Will this hold the Elgato wave 3 without the shock mount? What is the minimal weight for the engagement of the spring?** A: It will. One of my closest friends is using this arm with that exact microphone. He is using the shockmount but the weight difference is negligible. The positioning of the arm is more pliable than you think. I will revisit after some time passes if need be. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Almost perfect *by S***3 on November 1, 2023* This is my first mic arm, but I'm really happy with it. It does everything I need it to do really, but even then, I just have 2 complaints about it. It has 2 main sections as you can see in the picture, but in order to fold completely, both sections have to be closed, which is unfortunate for me since the lower part's closed state is a little tilted back and hits my wall. My other complaint is that the clamp doesn't hold the stand in a really stable way. It's stable enough I suppose, but it's basically just barely held in there. You put the end of the stand, which is a short pole, into a holder that is far too wide for it and clamp that down with a screw. It really just BARELY makes it stable enough. You could still easily pull it out of the holder and scratch all the paint off of it at the same time and also scrape the paint off while swiveling it a bit in the holder. On top of the clamp holder being like this, the stand, at least at first, is very hard to move around as it's a bit stiff. It loosens up quickly, so that's not something I can complain about, but the issue is that because it's so stiff, you need to use a lot of force to move it around at first and can easily end up pulling it out of the holder a few times. These are just some issues I ran into, but they haven't been a deal breaker for me. It's extremely solid in construction and has a good range of motion. It is also able to support my Blue Yeti microphone without dangling or standing up straight.
