Does the Job - Ouside and Holiday Lights
How often do I get to write a 5-start review for a product that Im annoyed at? This does not work with Hue. Lame! The older model mostly works with Hue, but not good enough. I say dont bother trying to use with Hue. They dont claim to work with Hue so I cant knock any stars. I am just making the statement here.I have three of these. Two of the older models and one of the newer smart+ ones. They work fine. Easy to pair with the lightify hub and turn on and off per the schedule. That is about it. They work. When I had the older model outlets paired with my Hue system, they didnt work perfect. They apparently never communicated back to the Hue hub correctly. This meant they would indicate as ON in the app but wouldnt be. I would have to frequently manually turn on the outside holiday lights.I bought one of the Lightify hubs, thinking maybe it would be useful for updating the firmware on these switched outlets. I dont think they have ever updated the firmware. But I finally paired the outlets with it and just use it directly to turn the outlets on and off. It works. I really didnt want yet another thing hooked into the house network. I gave in and now it works.

These are my go to smart plugs for home automation!
These Sylvania Zigbee smart plugs are fantastic. They work really well with Samsung SmartThings, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa. They are easy to set up and work reliably without fault. We have so many of these now that powers so many things and like that you can set up automation rules as well as schedules. We also use them during the holidays to control all of the lights.

Works Great With Home Assistant and the Deconz Conbee II
I have Home Assistant running on a Raspberry Pi, with a DeCONZ ConBee II running as a ZigBee gateway, and these were one of the first ZigBee devices I purchased to see how I liked it and if it worked well enough for home automation. Bingo!I did have some issues at first, and it took a while to figure out that (1) to reset these you need to hold the power button as you insert them into an outlet then keep holding until the light flashes and more importantly (2) for a ConBee II to work with a Raspberry PI You Must Use A USB Extension Cord. Period. If you plug the ConBee II (or another ZigBee or Z-Wave gateway) directly into the Raspberry Pi, there will be a lot of interference and the Zigbee or Z-Wave network won't work properly.Anyway, once I got that sorted out, these things are rock solid, and I use them to turn on and off strings of lights and lamps around the house. My favorite idea so far has been to have the drip coffee pot plugged into one of these and the pot turned on (but the outlet turned off), with the water and coffee in it all ready to go. That way, when you wake up you can turn on the coffee machine from bed! Fantastic!

Some setup with SmartThings but works great!
Works great with SmartThings hub, but you have to do it just right. Here's how I got mine working. Plug it in, open the SmartThings app>Home>Add a Thing>let it search> if it doesn't find anything, push and hold the power button for 10 seconds>You should hear a click and it should find it as "A Thing">Click on it and give it a name. Once you have it added, it will be added but the status will be "Unknown." Next, Login to to your smarthings developer's site (google it if you're not sure of the URL)>Home>you should see your new device with the name you just gave it, click it>scroll down>edit>change the type from "Samsung Home Theater" or whatever it shows to "Zigbee Switch">Update. Go back to your phone and your device will now have a toggle for on/off. I love the cheap price and the 15Amp load this little switch can take. I'm using a few of these to control the Christmas lights. Highly recommend because it's cheap, has a high amp load and doesn't affect the plug below it. Only downside I can think of is the lack of energy monitor. However, at this price point for a zigbee/z-wave device, it's a steal. I'm ordering a few more.

Low cost and great quality (Will not retain last state after power loss)
*** Update 1/11/2019 *** (knocking off 1 star)The outlets continue to work just fine but I did discover that they do not recover to the last known state after a power loss. They will be off when the power is restored until you turn them back on. Not a huge deal, but I am taking off one star since most similar products today will remember their last state after a power loss. I would still buy more of these without hesitation. I just won't use them in locations where power losses could cause problems.------------------------------I bought 4 of these for Christmas lights. The Zigbee outlets all paired easily with my Wink 2 hub. Directions in the box were vague but the Wink hub makes up for it. Just plug them in, press the button to turn on and follow the Wink hub directions for pairing. There are no special configuration needed. Very simple and standard setup.I want to comment on ratings and suitability for controlling loads. A lot of people ask if they can connect air conditioners, humidifiers etc. These outlets are rated for 15 amps "resistive loads". Resistive loads are things like heaters, toasters and incandescent bulbs. There is no rating printed for "inductive loads" which are things that have electric motors in them such as refridgerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers etc. While they are not rated, know that relay contacts are generally rated far lower for inductive loads. I personally would not recommend this or any of the low cost outlets for appliances with motors. Toasters and coffee makers should be just fine. Simple rule of thumb... If you know that the lights in your room flicker when you turn something on, I would not plug into this outlet. It won't catch on fire but I doubt the relay will last very long on heavy inductive loads. These types of loads tend to draw 6-12 times the normal rating for a split second after turning them on. This is why the lights flicker when you first turn them on. If you want to turn on a pool pump or something big like that, buy an outlet that specifically designed and labelled for appliances. Yes, they cost more but the reason is that they have a relay designed for high inrush currents that will not be damaged by them.Ok, enough electrical explanation. The outlets I got were very quick to pair and respond very well to the Wink hub and also to my voice commands via my Echo Dot. Last year I bought a few wifi style outlets that required using the Smartlife app to connect. I hated having to expose my WiFi network to some unknown 3rd party to make them work. To date I have not had any issue or security problem but is still wonder. In contrast, the Sylvania outlets use Zigbee that registers directly to your hub. This keeps the security risks tied to one vendor, in my case, Wink. If you have an Echo plus with the built in Zigbee hub, then Amazon would be the vendor. I feel better trusting either of these vendors with security over an unknown 3rd party. For this reason I am feeling much better about using these which are competitively priced against the million wifi devices out there today. The overall design is good. You can plug into the top outlet and still use the bottom outlet for most normal plugs. You cannot plug 2 of them into the same outlet however. They are larger than the round wifi models, but as an engineer, I prefer the less cramped design. It allows the electronics to cool better and provides better spacing between high voltage and low voltage and RF sections. I didn't take it apart to confirm the internal design because quite frankly, they work and they were low enough cost that I didn't feel like it. If I find they fail quickly I will come back and update this review. I suspect they will be just fine for years to come so long as I use them on resistive loads only.

Perfect with Wink 2 ( updated)
Perfect so far.Installed with a Wink 2 hub in leds than a minute each, works perfectly right away. Will buy again.Update 2018-12-02: Works flawlessly event if my Wink 3 hum is not "that" close, I never come home to a dark house using a Wink Robot (20 minutes before sundown seems perfect to me), they work each time, I realised that I can move them around for different purposes as they are not fixed permanently, so I am about to purchase 2 more for hard to reach christmas lights, I will use those later for other lights after the hollidays and during the summer in the veranda. It may sound childish a little, but It feels like magical to have all the Christmas lights light up on their own at night.Compared the prices, and strangely, they are among the cheapest for 15 AMP ( other ones only allow under 900W which is between 6~7 amps and sell higher)So far, my top choice for Wink

The perfect zigbee extender! Works great!
So far this plug has worked great. I was questionable with ordering after reading some reviews but went for it.I put this downstairs to use on a set of light bulbs based on time and it works great with my Smartthings hub.My main reason was to use it as a zigbee extender. I had four pot lights outside of my house that were set to come on based on time and triggers but I was constantly losing them and showing up as disconnected. Since I put this plug inside the house in the basement the outside lights have worked flawlessly.Does it work smoothly with a Smartthings hub? Yes!Does it work smoothly as a zigbee extender? Yes!UPDATE: I’ve now bought three of these plugs to extend my zigbee network in areas where sensor or lights were dropping off of my smartthings hub due to reception. These plugs are the perfect extender and they operate great as an on/switch for power as well.Highly recommend!
