TEAC W-1200B Dual Cassette Deck with Recorder with USB Pitch Control Karaoke-Mic-in and Remote

I love cassette tapes and wanted a reliable new deck without dealing with vintage repairs. The TEAC W-1200 delivers perfectly. Dual decks make dubbing and parallel recording super easy, sound quality is warm and clear (great noise reduction too), and the USB output is a lifesaver for archiving old tapes digitally. Trying to remember, this little gem is my 3rd Teac. Had a Realistic rat shack labeled Teac 1970s-80s. Just fantastic. This new one I love for different reasons. One it records fine music on level 2 blanks perfectly. Two, it's reliable. Level meters work well, and keeping an eye on recording levels is very important for playback. I scoffed at the two slots at first. Now, essential. I've 90 plus minutes of listening at fingertips. Being older tapehead and mobility problems too. Very helpful during times I don't feel like putting an album or CD in. I should mention, often old fm radio hits are not what I want, I can record around them. Great songs heard too often. For instance I made a 90 min. Steely Dan mix without the radio hits. Wonderful Maxell xl 2 magic. Back to business. Yes, u can decern difference. Yet, not horrid, in fact when ears get used to tape one forgets the small difference. Third, it's great to have a well built pc with warranty behind it. No this machine doesn't have a nickname like dragon, or vintage king, or best. I'd rather call it reliable. With de-magnifizing and cleaning as needed have hundreds yes hundreds of hours if use. I do not put pre- recorded tape in. Run from old flear market finds. Like the pretty girl who mumbles old boyfriend names to herself to herself, dating her will harm the user. Stay with the nice gal, stay with Maxell, tdk, fuji, Sony? Now RTM. Not sure tdk makes tape anymore. Sooner or later you will be fixing problems with nutz girl and ore- records. Older vintage ones especially. . I use as good tape as I can afford, or better stated, I will pay. Not insane level two prices now. Also some old stock level 2s are bad stuff. This machine with tweaking the levels does record level ones well. Am revisiting RTM tape as I peck. With satisfying results. We should support those making tape now. A tip o hat to our RTM friends. Tres bien! Good stuff. well, in my opinion as a mid fi guy, u can't go wrong with Teac or father company ? Escapes my brain. They make good stuff for recording studios today.

Crystal clear sound, great presentation,easy to see lcd display, definitely recommend this to others who love music and nostalgia!

It's a quality tape deck, hard to find these days. The left bay seems to mute the treble somewhat and I suspect it needs the azimuth adjusted. I have to see if it can be done under warranty,

Been wanting to get a cassette deck for quite a while. I finally saved up and made the purchase. I’m adding it to my vintage Stereo system. It works great. I got it with the chrome face which matches my receiver. I’m happy.

It's early yet to see if this unit will have any longevity without issues, but when I got everything all hooked-up to the system I was surprised at the fidelity. Reviews have been mixed pro and con, maybe I got a good one? I have many tapes all recorded on an old Nakamichi that keeps going to the shop for more repairs being 30 years old. This Teac W-1200 has a year warranty on parts, 90 days labor, save the box in case. If it blows-up within 2 months I can return for a exchange or refund. Watched a YouTube video of a fellow doing some testing on the published specs and it turned out to be better than factory. Have 6 hours on it so far and sounds as good as the Nakamichi, maybe better.C 90s have been working good.

I have over three hundred cassette tapes sitting in a drawer, and have not been able to play them because I could not fine a decent quality unit. My friend writes me and says how about this one, with a link. I used to own a TEAC reel-to-reel, and purchased it. After I plugged it in and hooked it up, suddenly there were all the tapes sounding exactly like the day I recorded them, bright, brilliant, crisp. It's a dual deck, and is not auto-reverse, nor does it switch from one deck to the other deck at the end of a tape. But having that sound quality is worth having to get up and push another button. One other thing, they say 90 minute tapes are not recommended, but I have all 90 minute tapes and have not encountered a problem. No regrets!

The glory days of stereo cassette decks (three heads, dual capstans, Dolby B/C NR, etc) are long over. That said, this deck seems to follow TEAC's reputation as being a well built machine that performs as its specifications describe. I plan to use it primarily to digitize my cassette collection for use on a computer. While I miss some of the bells and whistles of previous generation machines, this deck is about as good as it gets today and should meet my present needs.

Teac has a good reputation for its tape decks and I was pleased to see that Teac are once again producing a good quality cassette player and recorder. This dual cassette deck works great for recording from my old cassettes onto new ones preserving some radio programs I recorded 35 years ago. I popped in a pre-recorded tape of the Clash I’ve had for ages and the sound quality was very good. Very happy with this unit.

Excellent product

This tape deck was easy to connect and the sound quality is great. I would have given it 5 stars but I discovered that the remote control has no ability to turn it on or off. It has a manual power switch that has to be used, unless you want to leave it on all the time. I looked at buying a refurbished deck as cassette players are extremely difficult to get nowadays. I read many reviews and ultimately decided on this TEAC deck as the reviews were fairly good. It allows me to utilize the collection of cassette tapes that I have been holding onto for the past 45 years and as far as price goes, it was a midrange device. Let’s hope it lasts for a few years!
