Frankfurter, 6.3 oz

A frankfurter, I had eaten in the old country. With a dab of muster and a beer brought back memories of grabbing a bite at the Imbiss.

Had been gifted some and really enjoyed them, so much so I had to purchase more! Taste took me back to my childhood in Germany.

All I wanted to do is relive a childhood memory and have Potato Salad and Frankfurters for dinner and without proper research I had to find out following the hard way: Once the package arrive I laughed and cried at the same time: These are mini hot dogs, not Frankfurter Sausages and how much did I pay for them… Here are some insight to my story: Hot Dogs vs Wieners vs Frankfurters - all are pre-cooked and easy to prepare. But one is only found in Germany, while the other’s are found easily worldwide. Frankfurters are actually “protected” by a certain motto/definition: “A Frankfurter sausage is about 15 to 20 cm long, about 2 to 3 cm in diameter and weighs about 50 to 70 g. The thin sheep casing is light brown to golden brown in color and has a crunchy bite. The sausage meat is very fine and has a typical pink color. Frankfurter sausages are usually offered in pairs. Compared to Vienna sausages, Frankfurter sausages are a bit softer and juicier and 100% Pork meat. The Wiener sausages are made of beef while Hot dogs are made from the emulsified meat trimmings of chicken, beef, or pork. They may only be called “Frankfurter” if they are produced by butchers in the greater Frankfurt am Main area. If they are made outside of this region, they must be called “Frankfurt style sausages”. The “Meica Pork Frankfurters” sold sold here at Amazon are, with any luck, manufactured in Germany, however, Meica is located in Edewecht, 26188, Germany which is about 450km from Frankfurt! Meica is the best brand if you are looking for sausages. Delicious even cold. Somewhat expensive but one can find them a little cheaper on other websites. I would recommend and buy them over and over again.

I Love them but gave it only a three star because that’s a miniature jar for such a high price, they used to be much bigger.i am so so disappointed.

THESE FRANKFURTER ARE A LOVEY, TASTY TREAT. I SERVE THEM WITH GERMAN POTATO SALAD AND A GREEN SALAD FOR LUNCH.
