Review: Fits perfectly in my Starbucks mugs... - As the title says, these fit perfectly in the Starbucks Modern Classic Mug, 12oz and the Starbucks Modern Classic Mug, 16oz , and really well in the Starbucks 14oz double-walled glass tumbler. I am also glad I ended up buying this Large Finum Brewing Basket, Blue instead of the Medium Finum Brewing Basket because the large is actually a bit smaller than I thought it would be... Actually, the size of the filter is fine, there's plenty of room for enough tea to make 2-3 cups if you want to use it in a teapot and still have enough space for the leaves to properly expand... however, the lid itself is not wide enough to completely cover most mugs larger than 12oz and if you wanted to use a cup that was small enough in diameter to be completely covered, chances are good that it might also be too small for the filter since the lid is only as wide as the actual filter itself, it doesn't extend out past the filter like the "handles" do. The only mug I know of where the lid ALMOST covers completely is the Starbucks Modern Classic Mug, 16oz ... I'm actually a little disappointed by the lid size because when I ordered it, for some reason I was thinking that it was much wider than the filter... Maybe I got the idea from one of the photos or the product description? I'm not sure now why I thought that. At any rate, the lid needs to be at least an inch or so wider than the filter so a larger mug could still be completely covered for better steeping and to keep your tea hot longer. Everything else is very nicely made, I especially like the extremely fine mesh which ensures that all but the tiniest particles will stay in the filter and not end up in your mouth. The bottom is flat, which is great because it means it will stand upright without falling over if you to use a cup that is shorter than the filter, and the lid also doubles as a drip-free holder once you want to remove it from your cup. All in all, I recommend this infuser, it is the nicest one I have seen at this price point. But if you do not like the idea of a plastic tea filter and want a metal one, then for around $7 more I would highly recommend the FORLIFE Brew-in-Mug Extra-Fine Tea Infuser with Lid , which does also have a lid that extends further than the filter. It measures 4" in height and 2 1/2" in diameter. The handles stick out an additional 3/4" from the filter which means it will fit cups that are between 2 3/4" and 4" wide.
Review: A great addition to my backpack - ultralight, easy, fast and good coffee while on the trail... - What can I say about these filters that has not already been said? They are a well priced, well made, high quality filter that does the job intended. How do I use these? These help me make coffee while backpacking - and why they are a great addition to my pack is that they are lightweight, make good coffee in a very simple process, and are durable and well made where they can be used repeatedly without the need for replaceable accessories, filters or parts. For those of you relying on "Cowboy Coffee" while on the trail - take a long hard look at these filters. One option, you can pour your Cowboy Coffee through this filter and take all the grinds / grounds out of your coffee, removing the cowboy and just leaving the coffee. Or simpler yet, just pour your grounds into this filter, then put this directly into a cup of boiling / hot water, and let it steep just like you would French press or tea. Just don't let it steep too long, or it will be quite strong! Experiment to the taste you prefer.... One thing to note - if you don't want your coffee grounds floating to the top of the filter when you dunk it in your water - then pre-infuse your grounds with a little water before dunking. Pre-infusion just means the act of pre-soaking the grinds, and letting them sit for 30 seconds before use. Google pre-infusion for more details. Another note - there is a smaller version of this filter which is even better for you ultralighters out there that still want coffee on the trail! Thanks for reading.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What are the dimensions of the large & medium baskets? Top outer diameter (excluding flange), bottom outer diameter, height.**
A: The large basket dimensions are 2.5 inches diameter at top (excluding flange), 2 inches diameter at bottom, 3 3/4 inches height. Don't know the medium dimensions.

**Q: Anyone know where this was manufactured? Thx!**
A: Hi J. D. This product was manufactured by a company in Hamburg, Germany by the name of Riensch & Held GmbH & Co. KG Hans - Duncker - StraBe 1. Here's the website: www.finum.com. Hope this helps :)

**Q: how to clean the brewing basket**
A: It may depend on what you are running in the basket, but I have not had any cleaning issues with my baskets. I make my tea with boiling water and that may discourage buildup.

**Q: How much tea can fit inside the basket?**
A: The basket's about 2"x3". The handles allow it to sit inside a large mug or an opening about 3"-3 1/2" wide. I guess if you wanted you could fit more than an oz. of loose leaf. I only use it for a large cup at a time, about 1/2 tbs scoop.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great brewing basket - excellent for brewing large amounts of tea, NOT made in china
*by R***N on September 3, 2013*

Note that I got the 'large' sized. If you want to brew a single cup or smaller batch, the normal or 'medium' sized is probably more appropriate. I bought this when I found out my fiance was buying pre-made tea at the grocery store to take to work. I was horrified at this, since that is pretty darn expensive. Besides, in general pre-made teas made by the major brands taste gross if you ask me. Tastes like chemicals, not like tea. I bought a nice big bag (1 kilo) of tea to go along with this. The idea being - I'll brew a gallon of it, and you take some of that to work every day. The manufacturing of the basket looks excellent. NOT MADE IN CHINA! Made in germany (I confirmed this on the box upon getting it). I was initially considering many of the stainless steel brew balls, but they're all made in china, and after months of use, apparently almost all of them succumb to rusting. I doubt this will be there case here. The quality of the mesh itself is great, it is clearly designed for brewing tea. It is pretty 'flat' or thin if you will. It is gold-coated to keep out any metallic taste or rusting. The mesh is also very fine, I did not notice any rogue pieces of tea leaf getting into what I brewed - even though I poured nearly a gallon of hot water through the basket and tea leaves. The tea leaves I had were quite small, so I was impressed at this. To brew a gallon - I filled the basket nearly full of tea, placed it into the top of gallon pitcher I had (just barely fits), poured in hot water over the tea, and let it sit in the sun for a few hours. Brewed a delicious gallon of tea - with no tea particulate matter escaping. Cleanup was easy - just wash out the tea with your sink sprayer. Note - this is also dishwasher safe! Last note is that the lid makes a nice 'coaster' for the basket itself to prevent dripping when you go to clean it out. For only 10$ - this is a bargain. Excellent quality (not china quality), makes great tea, dishwasher safe.
