20PCs 5/16''-18 Stainless Steel Rivet Nuts Nutsert Threaded Rivet Insert Rivnuts 5/16-18UNC

These work perfect for a project I'm working on. I couldn't find a drawing before I bought them so I made one. I used a digital caliper and checked the sizes on three different ones and took the average. If you don't have the tool to install Rivet Nuts then I would get a long bolt install a nut and a few washers and then the Rivet Nut. Place it into the hole you cut and then tighten down the nut and hold the bolt in place. Its the best way to install it if you don't have a tool. If you find that the Rivet Nut also tuns with the nut try using grease between the washers so they can slide easier. Not much more to say other than that. They are great.

I would not recommend I highly question that these are stainless steel I am an engineer I work with materials daily they are coated with what appears to be zink . At best these would be some kind of alloy we use stainless steel rivets often in different applications and it’s obvious when your working with them.

Only used 5 so far, one to test if my tool could handle stainless steel. Then used 4 Rivnuts to mount a towel rack on an aluminum wall. Worked well.I think my Rivnut tool is only rated for 8/32, maybe 10/32 Steel Rivnuts. Larger Aluminum Rivnuts, no problem. It takes a heavy duty tool to put in steel or stainless steel Rivnuts.If you don't have a tool I have used a grade 5 bolt, a few washers to allow things to slip, a "regular nut with the threads drilled out" and a long nut.Setup --- Note --- A threaded rod works too, with a double nut tightened together in place of a bolt1. Place the “threaded long nut” on the bolt first.2. Then a couple washes3. Then the “nut with the threads drilled out”4. Then a nice tight fitting washer5. Then the Rivnut.How to install Rivnut --- Try a test run for good luck I forgot to tell you this is where you may need your third hand to keep the Rivnut from turning.1. First wrench -- Holds the bolt from turning2. Second wrench -- Turn the “Threaded long nut”3. Third wrench -- Now using your third hand Hold the “nut with the threads drilled out from turning and spinning the Rivnut as you tighten the system.

These worked great to install some LED lights on the front of my boat. There was no way I could fit inside the front hatch to hold a nut on the bottom of the hole, while someone else tightened the bolt from the top, not to mention having to do it all over again if I ever wanted to remove them. These were the absolute perfect solution to my problem.Also, I did these without the specialized tool and they still worked great. Just needed a 5/16 grade 5 bolt about two inches long with full threads, a couple washers, and a nut. You can YouTube how to set this up. I had trouble finding a hex bolt with enough threads, so I used a carriage bolt and just clamped a pair of vise grips on the head.Great river nuts, we’ll see how stainless they are in the salt water. I’ll update this review if they fail to hold up.

These stainless steel rivet nuts work great on the square rails of my fishing pontoon boat to hold all of my fishing tod holders with 3/8-16 threaded ends. I just screw them in the assembled rivet nut and am ready to go!. But after saying how good they are I must also say that being made from stainless steel they are also extremely hard to compress at assembly. I have the rivet nut assembly tool with two 18 inch long handles and it takes all of my strength to apply enough pressure to collapse the bottom up against the underside of the railing material to lock them in place. But it is worth it on my boat to have a almost flush mount non rusting rod mount that beats the look of the normal threaded aluminum mounting block supplied with most rod holders of this type.

These and a riv-nut tool are incredible. I had no idea what it was or how it could be used until I saw a video on a UTV door bag install solution.Essentially - the side of the door had no location to screw into and there was only plastic. There was no easy way to get to the back to use a nut and it was a flat plastic surface with no holes. I drilled the correct size for the screw I wanted to use, used the correct riv-nut and tool and within a minute had a beautiful location I can now securely screw into with some appropriate lock-tite and not have to find or deal with the nut on the back.Worked great for my project on plastic!

Don't install unless you use the correct side drill. Must go smaller! They are well made but should come with installation tips
