Unfortunately, this frunk LED light strip just isn’t something I’ll continue using. Installation is fairly straightforward, even though no instructions are included, but that’s where the positives mostly end. The lights themselves are bright, but they warm up quickly—which isn’t something I want happening inside the frunk. The biggest issue is the liner strip that’s supposed to help the light stay in place. It doesn’t grip the plastic lip securely at all, which makes the whole install frustrating, especially when trying to reinstall the weather strip on top of it. It also leaves a noticeable gap at the front instead of forming a complete circle. A full wrap design would have made alignment much easier. As it is, getting that front gap centered is tedious, and the strip doesn’t stay put while you work. Overall, the idea is good, but the execution just isn’t there. I would recommend exploring other frunk lighting options before choosing this one. Evaluation Points • Functionality: Bright light output, but poor fit and weak grip hinder usability. • Fit: Does not stay securely on the frunk lip; leaves a gap in the front. • Durability: Lights warm up quickly, raising long-term concerns. • Quality: Bright LEDs, but overall construction and mounting design are lacking. • Value for Money: Not great considering the installation difficulty and design flaws. • Ease of Installation: Straightforward in theory, frustrating in practice due to poor fit. • Look: Would look good if it stayed in place, but the front gap is noticeable.

Beginning around September of 2025, Tesla stopped including a frunk light in the Model Y. This kit requires a frunk light to tap into for power and my Model Y simply does not have any wiring that this kit can use. So before you order this kit for your Model Y, make sure you have a frunk light. Also, this kit included absolutely no instructions on how to install it. Since this kit says it's for Model Y 2026, and it won't work, I have to give it one star. If your Model Y is the new design but has a frunk light, there are YouTube videos which show you how to install and wire this kit.
