3M 4298 Adhesion Promoter, Sponge Applicator

Great thing to have if you are prepping for automotive body parts. I was replacing a side skirt on my car that had sagged, after I cleaned the area I wiped up and down the sills of the driver side with *2* of these (keep in mind the size!). The 3M sticky tape I used held very well after letting it "cure" for 24 hours against pressure. This promoter is not cheap and you have to get a lot of it for larger jobs, but it works very well and you will only have to do what you are doing once. Yeah, I could have skipped using this and just applied the adhesive after a good clean, but I would probably have to repair it again in a few years. Now I won't.

Works great for installing trim on my truck held securely in the intended position.

Worked great to help adhere 3M mounting tape, while installing a roof spoiler. 4 star rating due to the very small pad inside, that dried out within 30 seconds. If you plan on using this product get 2 just to be sure. It works fine, but I would rather have more to prep the surface, than try to stretch 1 packet.

Hello, I ordered the applicator pad to Clean and prep my passenger side mirror back plate. I cleaned all the Mirror fragments off to back plate holder and cleaned the back plate itself with alcohol first to get any adhesive off. I then waited until the temperature was in the mid 60s so everything would cure properly. I then applied the 3M adhesion promoter. I gave it a few minutes to cure and then applied the 3M double sided tape along with the 2 double sided pads that came with the mirror. I then removed the front of the double sided tape and applied the mirror. That was Three days ago and the mirror is holding and working like it should with the electric control for adjusting the mirror without any problems. I give the applicator pad a thumbs up for a review. So far it's doing what it is meant to do.

I used this prior to putting on window rain visors. I believe that if an act of god destroyed my car, the rain guards would still be connected to my car. Use gloves if you have not used this product before, it is naturally sticky, dries clear, works great!

This product works great if you actually get what you paid for but what I received was old dried out and useless

The size of this package is about the same as a simple alcohol pad or wet wipe, but if you have a small area to take care of then you'll be fine. I had a new OEM splash guard that uses a single narrow strip of 3M tape to hold it snug against the bodt of the car. No amount of cleaning would allow that piece or any new pieces I added to stick. I used this to wipe over the area of the car where the tape would be and on the splash guard, waited a couple minutes for it to dry, then added the new tape. Its not going anywhere now! If you cant get your surface clean enough for white masking tape to stick, then you need to use this.
