The "glitter" looks like thin plastic strips. At least it doesn't have a strong chemical smell that people complain about for other similar products. Arrived fairly quickly, considering it was shipped from China. Overall decent quality for the price, but we purchased this as a toy for our young daughter and now we're afraid to give it to her because it feels like it might burst easily.
