Proper balancing of your camera makes it easier to point on a tripod.
A lot of cameras are unbalanced when mounted on a tripod with large a lens. This dove tail plate allows you to adjust the center point of mass for best balance. This allow putting less of a strain on the adjustable head on your tripod. It allows for easier pointing without having to tighten your mount's clutches.

Perfect for my specific need
I purchased this to extend the mounting point of a peak design toggle on myCanon 200-800 lens. I want a more balance load to carry around. I used a thread adapter to make it work also.

Extension plate worked.
I purchased a Gimbal tripod head but my camera with a 150mm-600mm lens wouldn’t balance on the Gimbal. With the extension plate I was able to move my camera further back on the tripod head and balance my camera.

Works great for mounting my mirrorless camera.
I have been looking for a secure way to mount my mirrorless camera to my Meade LX85 mount. With this product, I have found it. Very well made, sturdy and attaches securely to the mount. Great way to get widefield shots. Highly recommended!

Good for longer camera lens
I have had trouble with longer lenses moving on the tripod. This plate has done a good job of staying solid on the tripod making panning much easier. It is possible to position the lens for best balance.
