The Root Assassin is the best garden tool I have ever bought. I have a large garden with lots of trees and bushes and this tool cuts through roots no problem. I use the root assassin for digging bushes out but it is handy enough to make a light job of digging to plant bulbs and plants. I use this every day I am out in the garden and it makes a light job of weeding. This is an ideal size for a woman, I am 5 ft 4 and nice and light although it does such an excellent job son and partner use it. I am going to buy two larger ones for each of them so they stop stealing mine. If in doubt buy it you honestly won’t be disappointed.

This works! So many gadgets and gizmos look promising on paper but disappoint when you try them but this device works well. It is an underground saw and should be treated as such rather than as a heavy levering device. It feels as though it has actually been field tested by the designer. I am currently adding plants to a woodland garden and the root assassin cuts neat plant pot sized holes that can be used to insert new shrubs etc. With the benefit of hindsight I would have bought the longer handled version as I have to bend with this one and my back is protesting a bit...

This has its uses but be careful to not overextend it. It should only be used vertically down, though grass and/or soil and thin roots, the ones that tangle an ordinary spade. Do not lever soil etc. out of the ground using this implement, I would imagine it could bend and break quite easily. Used sensibly it does a good job. A goto tool for many garden uses.

Is great if you can get access all round plant. However didn't help much with clumping bamboo roots. I'm sure will come in handy in future.

Purchased 30:03:19 and spade section so bent now it’s probably going to snap off. Unable to use. It’s supposed to have a lifetime guarantee and I’m trying to get a Re replacement as it was fine for the first year. I’m hoping they stay true to their guarantee!

Having a neighbour who plants invasive trees and shrubs on our joint border, I have had big problems trying to dig up roots and new growth which ruin my front garden. Conventional spades barely break the surface, so don't work and are back breaking! I didn't hold up any hopes that the root assassin would work but thought I would give it a try. It is amazingly successful. To quote GOT, you just stick the pointy end in, give a wiggle and it slices through with little effort. Use a spade to lift the stuff out. It literally takes minutes - in less than half an hour I took out 3 berberis and several snowberry stumps plus several patches of ivy. I speak as a 69 yr old woman with arthritis - if it works for me, it will work for anyone. Absolutely amazing. Reclaiming my overgrown garden at last. Thank you.

Absolutely brilliant, easy to use and strong. Use it correctly and it will do the job, much quicker and easier than a spade.

For digging through roots, this does what it says on the tin. Superb for work in the garden borders. However, I also intended to use this for metal detecting, but for this purpose it wasn't so great. I may have a duff one, but the spade head flexes terribly if prying out a plug. It was so poor that I could see a failure looming and stopped using it for this purpose and now only use it in the garden. If it didn't flex, I would have given five stars, but with the flex it has to be three.

If you are a metal detectorist, you need this shovel. It is sturdy, cuts through the toughest ground and easy to carry. There are more expensive shovels out there but this one will put them to shame. Buy one, you will be pleasantly surprised.
