Review: Perfect shoulder rest. - This is a very nice and attractive looking shoulder rest. Its finish compliments my violin well. It's easily adjustable and fits in my violin case well. It helps tremendously in relieving neck strain which is important to me since I have a neck injury. It also feels very well built. Even the plastic parts are solid and feel well made. It is padded and that padding is comfortable. Overall I'm very satisfied with this shoulder rest.
Review: A well designed and made accessory - I bought two of these for my kids - while I don't use a rest, they are required to have one by their instructor. And while the instructor suggested using one of those thick car-wash sponges, I decided instead to get real shoulder rests. This is a real shoulder rest. I like that it's wood with foam padding, instead of all plastic or foam-on-metal. The wood adds a little je ne sais quoi to the rig. I found it easy to adjust, though I kind of wish the width adjustment were a sliding bracket instead of a choice of three holes on each side. The height is adjusted by screwing the attachment bracket up or down, and again I kind of wish that were a slider instead of a screw to make the adjustment a little more exact. That said, it fits both me and my kids perfectly, so those criticisms are pretty much academic. The brackets are made such that I'm not worried that they'll scratch the instrument, and the rest itself is really quite comfortable. My ear is not trained well enough to tell you if it robs the instrument of any tone or projection, but for the instruments they'll be fitted to (a Stentor II and a Cremona SV-175) that's not a prime consideration at this point. The takeaway here is that this is a very well designed and made shoulder rest, something that, like the instrument it supports, will last for years with proper care. I really like it a lot.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this made with solid wood?**
A: Yes, it is solid wood! I believe it's maple but I sent an email to the workshop to make sure. We'll let you know shortly!

**Q: Does it work for people with short neck? In adult size violin**
A: The violin is an awkward machine because it is played in an awkward position. I've been back and fourth for years on the use or nonuse of a shoulder rest. Even learning to play cello did not help me. Here is my conclusion. No violin position is perfect. I can see ultimately, it is a mental compromise, and involves a determination to play no matter what. Now to answer your question. The Fiddleman is inexpensive. That is good. It can be adjusted vertically and horizontally. It looks great and is compact. That is also good. I think it will work with someone that has a long neck or short neck. I have a short neck. It is business as usual as far as shoulder rest are concerned.

**Q: Are these sturdy, good quality?**
A: Hello!

Yes, this product is very sturdy. If something happens, we do offer a 1-year manufacturer's warranty on the product. Don't hesitate to contact us if you run into any issues! Email us at support@fiddlershop.com

**Q: It says free shipping for orders over $49, so i ordered something else to make it over $49, but at checkout it's charging me $5.14 for shipping. why?**
A: Hello Susan! Our products qualify for free shipping over $49, but some other product you're choosing is not qualifying for this and there's a flat rate shipping charge for that item.
