Stainless Steel Versi Drain Assembly with FlipCap, ST-4

Was looking at single line cold water faucets for filtered water and came across this drain cover .. I didn't know or think I needed it ... well, it got here a few days ago , looks great and works great ... it ain't going back , I like it ! ... I found out how to keep it from getting dull looking with water spots when it drys .... a well spent 2 minutes - polished it with car wax ! Like everything else there are cheaper ones but they are not this one , this is the one to buy . This is not a stopper for holding water and filling your sink , it is a decorative cover that is well made !

We just did a “Dream Kitchen” remodel in our 1929 house. Twin 36” Sub Zeros, Thermador range, new cabinets, quartz countertops with a deep, single bowl under-mount sink. My wife is very happy with it and wouldn’t change a thing. She didn’t know this type of cap even existed. I ordered it and put it in last night and her response was epic. She saw it and said “Oh my goodness! I never even knew I wanted one of those!”. Yep, $80k on a new kitchen and I blew her socks off with a $20 sink cap! First, don’t confuse this cap with one which costs half as much, by GZILA. That one is a sink STOPPER, this one allows water to flow freely past it while installed. Second, I installed it over an ISE Disposal (the industry standard), and as you can see, it is a perfect fit. Others have commented on it not fitting tight and that is true. There is a slight amount of “play” when it is installed, but very little. I have included two separate up close photos with the cap installed. One of them is “centered” and one is with the cap intentionally slid to one side as far as it will go. See if you can even tell which photo is which. This cap will also fit the non-disposal side of a two well sink (Hint: all kitchen sinks [not all wet bar sinks] have standardized holes for drain connections, it is literally “one size fits all”) , so you might want to order two of them. If you are proud of your kitchen, this is the item “you never knew you needed” to make it look so upscale. Just buy one (or two) already. I doubt we will ever be without one of these again.

This is a must have for any kitchen. This is super easy to use the large basket collects all your debris so it doesn’t run down the drain. I’m not one that wants a garbage disposal. They usually have an odor this eliminates that issue don’t put in the garbage disposal. I use this to help collect the debris. This is a top-notch quality use the added cover when you want to hold water in the sink. It has a good water retention and we’ll stay there till you’re ready to release it. This is very sturdy. I had my first one for eight years with no issue at all. We just opted to get another new one with a new sink. This is a great value for the money. I’ll have one of these on my sink always My contractor came back and saw the house after he built. It couldn’t believe what a great idea this was. Get one for your kitchen sink. It’s very easy to install or to have a plumber install you won’t be sorry.

As other reviewers have stated, this drain assembly is quite deep. I am installing this on the smaller side of an offset, double-bowl sink. Since that side is also not as deep, this assembly works bring the level almost down to the other side. This is a three piece assembly: 1) drain, 2) strainer basket, 3) stopper. The assembly is well constructed. It comes with a large, plastic retaining ring (shown in the manufacturer's picture in grey)and both foam and rubber gaskets. The threads that the retaining ring fits to are plastic as well but are sturdy. I am not afraid that I will strip the threads at all hand tightening the retaining ring. The drain threads are also plastic and are well built. The stopper is the same stainless steel as the drain. There is a rubber gasket on the underside that creates the water stop. The strainer basket is stainless steel with a small metal hoop to pick it up out of the drain. Pros: This is really an attractive looking addition to a stainless steel sink. The stopper is much nicer than the plain black, plastic stoppers that I have seen come with drain assemblies and adds a sleek look to the sink. I also like that the assembly comes with a separate stopper compared to the baskets that you have to press down to stop water flow. Cons: I did have a slight problem with the included basket. The little hoop attaches only by pressure by protruding through holes on either side of the basket. As it does, it stops the basket from completely sitting into the drain. I will have to bend these up to allow for clearance to sit in the drain properly. I could also remove it completely but then I would have to work at getting the basket out whenever I need to remove it. I will update once I have modified the basket. Overall, I am pleased that I purchased this. It was roughly $10 less than the drain assemblies that I looked at from my local hardware stores and those had the integrated basket/stoppers instead of the separate ones that came with this one. Even if I wind up not using the included basket, this is far better looking than ANY that I have seen in the stores for the money. Given that I have remodeled my entire kitchen, it would be a shame to stop paying attention to the little details that complete the look of a kitchen. UPDATED 6-17-2013: Modifying the handle on the basket was a simple process. I used a grinding wheel to take off a bit of the end of the handle so that it wouldn't scratch the drain when inserted or removed. The same could be accomplished with a metal file or a Dremel attachment. We've been using the drain now for over 6 months and are very happy with it.

We have a KRAUS double sink - one smaller for garbage disposal. I always hated looking into the dark hole of the garbage disposal in the small sink. The black rubber around it always looks dirty to me. Not to mention the occasional spoon that would slip in or cap from a bottle and then would shock me when I went to use the disposal not knowing it was in there. This beautiful stainless steel cover changed all that. No more black hole and the beauty is water drains right under this so the only time I have to remove it is when I actually want to use the garbage disposal. This makes my sink look cleaner, sleeker and just works! It is great.

Purchased to go with my Kraus workstation apron front granite sink. My old Kraus sink in my last kitchen came with this basket strainer, and it was the absolute best kitchen sink strainer drain. Such a good design! Washed well, handled piles of water, tea, icecubes, food bits. Caught everything so it didnt go down my pipes. Was easy to scrub clean and never dented or cracked. Never came loose. Excellent drain assembly for a kitchen sink. My new Kraus apronfront sink had the option of very beautiful, and matching black colour, Kraus strainer drain assembly, but it doesnt have the useful basket design that catches all the food particles!! Function beats pure aesthetics, every single time, so I ordered this steel basket strainer instead. The last one looked great and worked great with 6 years of heavy daily use ( the Kraus granite sink as well) and I am looking forward to many years without issue of this basket strainer drain on my new Kraus sink in my new house.
