Yes, they make cheap little heating and cooling packs. Yes, they cost less. Yes, you might even have some in your home... For this specific purpose these are better. The shape makes these discrete, when pregnant or nursing the last thing you want is some awkward hot/cold back shape in your bra making you feel even more self-conscious at an already delicate time. They are a good size in my opinion for accommodating smaller to larger chests, and with all the pregnancy related changes they are not big enough to make a noticeable difference. The soft cover material is very nice and doesn't irritate what could be a very sensitive area for some, and if you leak a bit you just toss the cover in the wash. There is a snap button to make it into a full circle that fits nicely around pump flanges so if you need a little heat or cold while pumping these are the perfect shape and literally designed to stay in place on your pumps. I used these for aches during pregnancy when hormones were wild and breast tissue was changing, I used these when engorged and needed reliable relief, and I use them now on days when I slept a bit too long or something else interfered and I couldn't pump when needed. They are small enough that they get hot or cold quickly. They easily fit in a cooler if you need them for on the go pumping.
