Finally a gate that works
Had to leave a review since this was the sixth gate we tried for our stairs and finally found one that worked! Wraps around the stair banister so you don’t have to drill and no bottom bar so you don’t trip. We installed at both top and bottom of stairs.

Very sturdy!
This gate has the many attachments, that way you can install it differently to fit your needs. You can do banister to banister, wall to wall, and banister to wall. It's not pressure mounted and you can install it without drilling into your banister! I was wary buying something that has velcro straps, I thought surely it would become loose with time or I'd never get a tight install. That's not the case with this! If you zoom into my picture you may be able to see on the banister install that there's a small clip to keep the straps from coming undone. It's difficult to open and I doubt anyone under 5 years old will have the strength to get it off. With the strap install, after you've gotten the straps as tight as you can there's a little tool that you use on a small screw to give it a even tighter fit, it's just tightening it a smidge by pulling the straps. (Still no drilling) I recommend reading the instructions closely and inspect each part before starting so you can figure out your install before you begin. The install to our wall I only needed the three spacers, the metal bar, and three screws but the banister side needed quite a bit of the kit to complete. The rubber pieces that is under the the straps keeps a good grip onto the banister, that way there is no slipping or sliding down. Nothing should be loose if done correctly. We've installed two gates to prevent our baby from going up and down the stairs, however we have a autistic 3 year old the gate doesn't keep out. She will climb over it daily to get to her room and she's 35 pounds. While that isn't recommended (I honestly can't keep her from not climbing it) I can attest that the gate is very sturdy and strong, the metal hasn't bent with her weight even with her climbing on it daily. Over time I may need to tighten the straps because of her weight on it daily but the gate is just that good even with her climbing it or trying to forcibly shake it open.

Good overall, but can be frustrating
Our stairs were a really frustrating spot to baby gate, and after trying two different styles that just didn’t work, we ended up going with this one.Cons:Since we have two rounded bannisters, we had to contact customer service to get a second round adapter; it only came with one (and it took a long time to get here)Because (by nature of the beast) the rounded top is farther apart than the squared off bottom edge to edge, we have to pull the top section hard to get it to latch, and you can see in the picture it’s pulled wonky and at an angle. I’m worried that may damage our railing over timeIt was SO FRUSTRATING to install. The stickers meant to help keep the guards in place while you strap them in weren’t sticky at all, and they kept falling off, and then the straps themselves had to be at just the right angle to actually give good tension, and it took way longer than I expectedPros:No bottom bar to trip onOne of the more affordable options I was ever able to find when looking, especially with how weird our stairs areLove that it swings both ways, to be stored in the stairway or in the walkway when not in useI love that it’s not limited to one width when installed, and we can shrink it to still have access to the stairs and have it not be completely in the wayOverall it’s a pretty good baby gate once you actually get it installed, and I’d recommend it - especially if you don’t have round banisters. I just wish there was a better solution for making it so the top and bottom were parallel, when I think basically any round banister is going to have a similar problem.

Extra steps if you’re looking to connect to two round bannisters
I bought this for top of the stairs. I have two round bannisters - the gate comes with one adapter for one round bannisters (the manufacturer assumes you’re attaching one end of the gate to a wall or a square bannisters). In the instruction booklet they tell you to contact customer service to get a second adapter. So keep in mind that this is a multi-step process if you’re looking for a gate for two round bannisters. The description also said that it locks automatically. It doesn’t. Other than that, it’s pretty sturdy, easy to open and latch, and only mildly frustrating during installation. The height is as advertised and the sliding mechanism to adapt to your width is pretty handy.
