Better than most books about how to de-clutter.
Reading this book has given me new insights about how to manage and prevent clutter. What I have discovered so far is that each type of clutter management the author describes applies to me, but in different areas in my house. Identifying which method works best for me in each place in my home is finally giving me the ability to devise strategies that that are actually working!Note about the audio version of this book: I overlooked the statement about the kind of CD player needed for the audio version. More conveniently for me, the paperback print version is available also.

Notes from a Kon Mari Drop-Out
I needed motivation to organize and declutter my messy house to make it more functional. I watched a couple of the author's videos on YouTube and decided to give this book a try. I am very glad that I did. Cas hits the nail on the head when she explains why organizational systems are not one size fits all. When I took her test, I discovered that I was a "Butterfly", a style type that needs visual abundance with organizational simplicity. When she suggested that I should be able to see my stuff, and that clear, open bins and labels are helpful to this type, I knew she'd hit the nail on the head. Quite simply, this was the system that I was already subconciously utilizing in the areas of my home that were actually working. My goal (and that of the author) is not to necessarily to make my home Pinterest-worthy, but to make it functional for MY lifestyle. Fortunately, my husband is also a "Butterfly" organizational style and this system also works for him. There is no shaming in this book, or talking to your socks, "sparking joy", or demands for minimalism or perfection. What there is, is realistic organizational ideas that are geared towards your own personal style and functional needs. I highly recommend this book.

extremely helpful!!!
Cas breaks things down and makes it seem attainable. She has a way of explaining things that both my husband and children understand. My husband and I know understand why we struggle with staying neat. We have different styles. It has given us greater understanding of how to work together and what will help us stay neater at home. Easy read with wonderful ideas!

Helpful
Interesting concept that our personality type determines our organizational method and the test was accurate. I would have given 5 stars but I finished the book wishing for more insight into over coming barriers, especially re sentimental attachments and feelings of guilt, whether feeling wasteful, or uncharitable (unable to throw away unsolicited requests for money from good causes).

Acceptance
This book meets each person where they’re at on teaching organization - she doesn’t expect, and in fact reassures us throughout the book that it is not reality for, everyone to organize stuff in the same ways. For me (diagnosed with ADHD at 37, and a butterfly married to a ladybug) this book is as much a psychological self help as it is an organizational self help book.

Finally! An Explanation on Why I Do What I Do!
Cassandra Aarssen nails it with her explanation of why we organize the way we do. She divides people into 4 basic personality/organizing styles with no guilt on why we do what we do. I am a procrastinating cricket with a capital 'P' and would often feel like a failure. Cassandra with her wit and humor has made me realize that there is hope and all I need to do is embrace my organizing style or "bug". One size does not fit all. I enjoyed her stories of experiences dealing with real clients and how she helped them solve their organizing problems. By recognizing what type of organizing style I am, I can accept who I am and with Cassandra's suggestions in her book, work towards having the organized home I have dreamed of for years. This book is an easy read and hard to put down. There are so many good nuggets of wisdom in every chapter. I highly recommend this book for those lost souls who think they will never have a clean and orderly home. There is hope and Cassandra can help you accomplish your dream!

I am not lazy!
This book was so eye opening! I've been called lazy and made fun of within my family. But the 4 different descriptions show I just think differently and helped me recognize better what organizing style I actually crave and how to get there. I've always known my perfectionism gets in my way. Understanding visual and organizational abundance and simplicity is a game changer. And I can tell that I prefer different methods in different areas. Now I'm motivated to get to work on my home and office!

Amazingly life transforming!
I have always struggled to be neat. My negative inner voice has been loud and critical. Taking the quiz and finding out I’m a butterfly and then reading how other butterflies are made me feel so validated!! Yes, I get attached to items, but I can de-clutter (with practice). Yes, I ABSOLUTELY forget I own things if it’s put away - and I was always so embarrassed about this aspect of my personality, thinking I was the only dummy who did this. Nope, I’m not a dummy, and I don’t have to hide this about me. Instead, I’m going to have macro-organizing systems that work with my natural talents and abilities, and I’m going to stop telling myself I’m “bad at this cleaning thing”. The author says over and over that I’m a wonderful person just the way that I am and I don’t need to change. That message of positivity was so welcome after decades of feeling like I’m less than others. THANK YOU FOE THIS AMAZING BOOK! I’m heading over to find butterfly organization tips on Pinterest now!!
