Works very wel, but....
You must use a Mono adapter. The Visual Alert has a 2.5mm stereo plug, most radar detectors use a 3.5mm plug. Even if your detector uses a 2.5mm plug you must use a mono adapter or else it will not work. If you use it at night you can adjust the brightness by turning down your volume control. My detector is a Beltronics RX65. This visual alert works very well.

Ideal for a cycle and perhaps a car.
This visual alert is bright durning the day time and really bright at night. If you are going down a street at night (I learned this in Tucson, AZ one night during rush hour) and the detector is going off all the time from doors with radar, stop lights, speed controllers showing your speed along the side of the road, and the cops radar units you will light up like rudolf the red nose reindeer. You will be flashing red. It does not seem to be blinding, it's just you can see the reflection against yourself from the light and am sure everyone else around you can see you also which is not a bad thing when in heavy traffic at night which is all the better to see you with when on a cycle. Bottom line, this is the best radar (Adaptiv) unit with this alert there is for a cycle. I don't leave home without the unit mounted.

Completely overpriced
A ridiculously high markup for this. It's just a cable with three tiny LEDs. Costs <$2 to make. It should be <$10 if it's functional but the one I received didn't even work. To charge $45 for it is a joke, especially when there's still a chance for defective ones

Works great. Nice and bright
Works great. Nice and bright. I use it on my motorcycle in conjunction with a Escort 8500ix (2.5 to 3.5mm adapter used). Easy to see during the day, and to my surprise, the dimming feature worked as well for nighttime use (turning volume down produces a less bright flash so you aren't blinded)

Second one I’ve purchased. But after arriving I found the detector alert came with, where as my first did not
