We have done so so many experiments and good ones are hard to find
We have done so so many experiments and good ones are hard to find. This one presented a problem to solve and then gave a couple of quick experiements to show some background science lessons to explain the ultimate project. For example, to build a solar oven, it had you go through and experiement with which colors absorb/reflect light. It had many experiements to last the entire month. Our son just turned 5 and he had been doing science from the beginning and loved every minute of this one. There is also a journal that we started to keep notes of our findings. First kit ever that explained science so well.

hit with the 6y/o
My 6y/o son absolutely loves this and the other Magic school bus kit we got. He's really into science so he got 2 of these for Christmas. He does need help with it since he's so young but many of the items in this are easy enough for him to grasp and understand. He often will check it out and gather all materials and then ask for help (he looks at the photos and gathers supplies if he can't read all the words). Would buy again and will likely buy some of the other MSB kits.

Fun but some experiments did not work
My 5 year old had a blast with the engineering lab. He loved learning how things work. But a few of the labs did not work as they explained in the directions. A few cards also had grammar mistakes or showed inaccurate picture diagrams that made it confusing.

Great Engineering Lab
My kids really enjoyed this Engineering Lab from the Magic School Bus. The experiments were designed in such a way that the kids had to form a hypothesis and design their own experiments to solve a problem which was actually quite fun for them. They especially enjoyed the experiments with the solar panel and the motor. We highly recommend this science kit!

Really cool, but instructions need improvement.
There are really cool experiments in here. My 5 yr old and I have had fun with it. The issues I have with it are the instructions don't depict items as they look in person, so it's really confusing to get started. The instructions also seem to leave out valuable info. I would definitely buy more of these if I find that they've updated the presentation of instructions. I mean, at the end of the day, if you can't figure out how to conduct an experiment, you learn nothing and the child gets frustrated. Great value, but run a focus group and take notes on how your instructions can be improved.

Great educational tool.
Great collection of experiments. A lot of them are quite simple and could be compiled from public sources using commonly available materials. However, for busy parents the package with instructions and everything right there makes it easy to spend time educating than prepping. Worth the money. My 5-yr old son thoroughly enjoys it and wakes me up in the morning so that we can work on the experiments. :-)

Excellent fun, really well designed
Fabulous box design that makes children immediately interested to explore its contents.Though the experiments are simple they are beautifully presented on small cards with plenty of extra detail on the science behind each experiment. The experiment components are all high quality. This has kept my 6 year old very engaged and involved.I would strongly recommend this toy.

Total Disappointment
This kit is a total disappointment. The experiments are very hard for a child to do even with me helping along. Most of the supplied items are flimsy and poorly made. Trying to make stores of tin foil by leaving in the sun does not qualify as an experiment. Wheels are flimsy. Thread impossible to get through the straw. Buzzer barely works. This manufacturer spent more time on the packaging then the actual contents.
