Product Description Victor Crowley returns to terrorize all those who dare enter the swamp in the sequel to the hit slasher film, HATCHET 2. desertcart.com There's probably no better visceral creep-out than a close-up eye gouging (just ask Luis Buñuel). Director Adam Green learned this well by using the old thumb-in-socket shot as the climax of his 2006 cult hit Hatchet, and he repeats it as the opener of Hatchet II. This micro-budget sequel picks up just as the original ends, with the aforementioned eye still belonging to the deformed swamp monster Victor Crowley (again played by ace stuntman and Friday the 13th alumni Kane Hodder). The thumb belongs to demure Marybeth (Danielle Harris), who turns out to be the sole survivor of the first film's tour-boat cruise through Louisiana's most disgusting swamp. She escapes Crowley's one-eyed clutches and finds her way back to New Orleans and the lair of voodoo conman Reverend Zombie (Tony Todd, of Candyman fame), where a posse of redneck morons is quickly assembled to return to the swamp and squash the innards and legend of Victor Crowley for good. All this Victor Crowley and innards-squashing business will be familiar to fans of Hatchet, of which there are legions. Indeed, it feels as though Green has made Hatchet II as a love letter to them, raising the bloody-disgusting body count and creative means of murder--outboard motor, super-size chainsaw, belt sander--strictly to satisfy an urge felt only by the supremely devoted. Billed as an unrated director's cut, the DVD version will surely send them swooning with even more latex guts and buckets of Kool-Aid-colored blood than they might remember from midnight theatrical shows. Even the commentary tracks and making-of documentary are filled with backslaps dedicated to the exclusive Hatchet groupie club. Green is intentionally riffing on slasher films not only with the comic dialogue and dopey characters, but also by employing icons of the genre as actors. In addition to Hodder and Todd, Tom Holland, director of fanboy favorites Fright Night and Child's Play, turns up in another key role. Unfortunately, Green's sense of insider humor and commitment to a limited demographic seems to have clouded what could have been a more interesting movie. But you're probably not watching Hatchet II to see an interesting movie. You're watching to see a giddy homage to the glory days of practical gore effects and enjoy the goofy fun of howling at senseless characters that lose their heads and countless other body parts in ever more creative ways. --Ted Fry Review: This Movie is AWESOME!!! - My girlfriend and I drove for 5 hours to see this in Northern VA, at the only AMC theater we could find. We weren't dissappointed, it was a fun time. Great special effects, the gore is as over the top if not more than the first one (which is a classic). The acting isn't so hot over all, but a few mentions of other great films were a treat as well as the 80's slasher humor well intact. I've waited for the announcemnt for this blu ray for quite some time, If I was any more excited about this release date I would be two people. BUY IT! Review: Stop The Spoilers You Di*ks! - In my opinion this movie was great! High body count, low plot, and tons of over the top gore. My only real issue is with the D Bags on desertcart who feel the need to ruin the movie for those of you who have yet to see it. Take my advice, check out the movie and be careful which reviews you read because there seems to be a lot of morons out there that think they must give away the movie in order to tell you about it. The first was good, but this one far exceeded it
The first was good, but this one far exceeded it. Danielle Harris was a perfect replacement for the lead, as much as I hate when they recast lead characters. If anything it's just a shame she wasn't in the first for consistency that way. This series is totally original, classic horror. Lots of gore and action with some laughs along the way. Gotta have em all!!

Nice old school slasher with practical gore effects
This is a excellent old school type slasher that uses practical gore effects instead of CGI. Unlike the first film it has a more serious tone, but there's still some moments of humor. The films swampy setting provides nice atmosphere and scenery, and the films pace is pretty fast. I saw the R-rated version of this on cable and it's butchered. If you want to see the film, you need to see the unrated version. The gore effects here are excellent and some are very extreme. There's some nudity, but it isn't that explicit; more explicit nude scenes for this type of slasher would've made the film better. The main reason to see the movie is simply for the gore. If you're not a gore fan, I can't think of much of a reason to recommend it. The film is simple to follow and you don't care about the characters; they are simply there to get slaughtered and there's hardly any character development. This is basically for gore fans and old school 80s slasher flicks. I thought the directing was decent, but some may not like the directing. If you're just looking for lots of graphic gore, you might like it. The DVD quality was a little disappointing. It looks good, but I thought it needed better contrast and color.

Burying The Hatchet!!
I'll keep this short I really loved this movie. Writer / Director Adam Green has done it again. In my opinion he has captured the essance of the slasher, and I had the same feeling watching this as I did the first time I saw The Friday the 13th movies, and all the great 80s horror. First you have Danielle Harris who is quickly becoming my new fave scream queen, Kane Hodder who is just a force, and Top it off throw Tony Todd in to the mix you cant lose. The kills are awesome. Thumbs way up I'm looking forward to whatever Adam Green has to offer. If you liked the first one you will not be dissapointed.

Exactly What it is Supposed to Be!
Throwback Slasher made for horror fans. Buckets of blood, over the top kills, and Danielle Harris. What more can you want out of this film. Hatchet 2 doesnt try and do anything that has not been done before. Does that make it a bad film? Hells no, it makes it a fun ride and gives you exactly what you would want out of a slasher film.

adam green delivers again!!!
ohhh my god!!! the body count in this film is so exciting and creative. the manner in which victory crowley dies in this sequel is awesome!!! for those of you whom are downing on this piece of classic american horror, shame on you all!! so what if a quick homage to jason voorhees is mentioned, i found the context of the line ironic to the T. and now dark skys films has given a green light for a third film, hatchet III? oooohhhhh, hell yeah!!! posted on 5/17/11

The first Hatchet was a slasher parody of sorts while maintaining everything you would want from a slasher. Many slasher movies have had sequels with ridiculous plots and explanations and Hatchet II parodies this with the very strange story of the Victor Crowley curse I won't give it away but it was very ludicrous, no way believable, could not be taken seriously and definitely up there with Halloween 6 with ridiculous plots. The body count is much larger in this one though it does take a little longer to cut to the chase, the gore is way over the top and brilliant. Kane Hodder does a great job again if you were to put a hockey mask on him this would have been a great Friday the 13th sequel.

Uncut echt geiler shit. Danielle Harris als Marybeth, Tony Todd als Rev. Zombie und Kane Hodder als Victor Crowley sind der Hammer ! Teil 2 hat noch geilere kills als der schon sehr brutale erste Teil.
