Original Classic Malt Plain, 500 Gram

This was purchased while my in-laws were visiting the U.S., and it was such a nice treat to have something familiar from back home. Horlicks is one of those drinks I remembered from childhood, and this classic malt flavour did not disappoint. It has a rich, malty taste and a smooth, comforting flavour. I especially enjoyed it warm, and it tasted just as good as I remembered. It is not overly sweet, which I appreciate, and it feels like the kind of drink you can have in the evening or when you want something cozy and familiar. The item arrived well packaged and fresh. I would absolutely buy this again, especially when we want a little taste of home.

We like the flavor but had trouble getting the powder to dissolve in cold milk. I looked it up after hearing it mentioned on the 'Call the Midwife' series ... yes, a nice cup of warm Horlicks is very satisfying at the end of a busy day. It's a similar taste to Ovaltine.

I was reading an article about the old "Lum and Abner" radio show and saw a drawing of the eponymous characters stocking cans of Horlicks on their store's shelves. I'd never heard of it and that got me curious so I googled it. I'm a fan of Ovaltine as well as Nestle's Carnation Malted Milk powder so I thought I'd try Horlicks, which is a "Classic Malt" product. The product arrived quickly and I made it according to the package directions the night it arrived- tonight! So, it smells exactly like wet burlap. I'm not kidding. It tastes worse than wet burlap. Perhaps old wet burlap that has been in the barn for a few months. I checked the package and it actually says, "PKD:05/22/2007". The package also says, BEST BEFORE TWELVE MONTHS FROM PACKING". That's more than 15 years ago! Holy smokes! I guess I drank about 30 ml before I just couldn't stand it and then I saw the manufacturing date. Not good. Not returnable. However, I called Amazon and I have to say without question they immediately refunded my payment of $11.57. So I am a happy, as I always am with Amazon customer service, and I am now a more educated (about Horlicks) customer. I've been thinking about the packing date. Perhaps it's "PKD:05/22" and the 2007 is part of a long serial number. If the product is indeed 15 years old, that could explain why it smells and what it tastes like. If it's from May of 2022, then it's just a horrible smelling and tasting product on its own. I guess that's worse. At least that's my opinion. God bless you if you like this.

I was disappointed. I thought I was ordering tablets. My mistake. I followed directions for mixing the powder in warm milk, but was disappointed in the flavor. It was not like the flavor of the tablets that I ate when I was young.

We had Hollicks for the first time last year when we went on holidays. It was so yummy between the 4 of us uses 2 containers. Couldn't find it anywhere when we came home. Then saw it on Amazon. Happy family

طعمه غريب بس لذيذ خاصة انه مفيد وكله فيتامينات لكن انا احط معاه حليب بودرة او حليب طبيعي وكاكاو و ستيفيا للتحلية يمديك تحط بدال ستيفيا عسل ، الصراحة حلو وعجبني جبته للتقليل من شرب الشاي
