Fuss free rice in microwave
This is really worth the price for me because my hands work badly and it saves manoeuvring pans of boiling water. I was using packs of microwave rice to avoid being scalded which works out pretty costly so it will pay for itself fairly quickly. It makes good rice with very little fuss and doesn't occupy much space.

Lovely fluffy rice
This innocuous looking piece of kitchenware, is breathtaking. For years I had a microwave rice cooker which I bought in Lakeland. It worked extremely well, but eventually wore out. I have spent the last 6 years - and a great deal of money - trying to find a substitute - Lakeland no longer sell the original. The Lekue is a wonderful replacement. Simple to use, brilliant to clean. I did have a small problem with timing because I have a 700 watt microwave and the instructions are for 850 and 750. However, after posing the question on Google, I got a chart of umpteen wattages and timings. All I do now is find the length of cooking time under the 850 and follow the line across to 700. Finally, my rice is consistently edible - and - it freezes in grains, not solid lumps.

Recipe finally sorted
Great piece of equipment, easy to clean and store. However, the recipe is nowhere near accurate for my 800W microwave. After various disasters, I've finally arrived at the perfect grain/ water proportion for me. For two people, basmati rice 100 gr requires 275 mls water (cold) and 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes covered outside microwave. For two people, quinoa 100 gr requires 275 mls of * just boiled * water and 10 minutes, with an extra 5 minutes covered outside microwave (cold water just produced sad undercooked quinoa despite an extra 10 minutes cooking time and much stirring in between). I also add a bit of garlic and herbs to it for flavour. Now I get fluffy rice and quinoa every time, tadaa. Worth buying, less mess and good results once you get the recipe right. Update for new 1000W microwave: White basmati rice for two: 100 gr basmati (previously rinsed), and 275 ml tap water, cooking time 8 mins, then take outside and stir, leave covered for 5 mins.

Fluffy rice with zero effort
I like the idea of rice cookers but wasn't sure I wanted to fork out for an electrical appliance that might end up sitting at the back of the cupboard. As it turns out, this microwave rice cooker does exactly what I want. I like being able to pop it in the microwave and leave it to do its own thing. It doubles as a serving container if you want, and is easy to clean.

Delicious bulgur wheat!
Super easy to use. Toss the grains in, toss the water in, and microwave! Comes with instructions for amounts and times - the couscous seems to be a little long in the instructions (or you should fluff it up mid-way through, only tried once, and while it tasted good, it was a 'cake' of couscous, whoops!), but the bulgur wheat is spot on, and tastes really good! Goes through the dishwasher safely, although grains do get stuck to the rubbery lid portion, so that can often need a wipe over with a sponge, but no scrubbing required, horray!

Might as well have used used a pan
It looks nice and is well built, but it was very disappointing as a rice cooker, which after all is its job. I bought this to replace a microwave rice cooker we had that broke. You put the rice in an inner container, poured on boiling water and microwaved for 11 minutes. Lakeland no longer sell that version. With the Lékué you put in cold water and microwave it for a lot longer. Hopeless. Use a pan.

I bought this product as a possible Christmas gift for my kids at university. It is essentially a thin plastic pot with a perforated lid that doubles as a sieve - nothing fancy! It claims to cook e.g., 240g rice in 13 minutes at 800W without the need for stirring (or attention). I tried it! It doesn't work! The rice was seriously undercooked and soggy (too much water). I tried longer cooking times, and found it takes about 20 minutes to cook the rice through - just like in any other pot. No surprise here, rice doesn't care how the water is heated. The only way to cook rice faster is a pressure cooker. I also found that one cannot reduce the amount of water to the usual 1:2 ratio. If you do, the rice burns quickly, reliably and thoroughly. Thus, there is no alternative to soggy rice. You must always use too much water and discard the surplus at the end. You may be able to avoid burning by fiddling with the energy after 10-15 minutes. But then, the 'no attention' argument is gone, and you can use a regular pot right away. If you use the flimsy lid as a sieve to siphon off excess water, you risk burning your fingers. In summary, it is a disappointing, oversold, rather useless dust collector taking up precious space in my kitchen. I would never bother my kids with it. It may work for other grains, but I haven't tested it.
