It’s not stated in description. Sorry if duplicate.** A: Everything is metal on mine **Q: Where's the serial number on the device? a serial is listed on the cert of inspection, but i see no number on my micrometer.** A: Why do you ask? In 50+ years of being a machinist i have never wondered where the serial number has been on any of my micrometers. **Q: Where are these manufactured? Are they made in China?** A: I do not know where those were made, but! The piece that I bought has the inscription "Made in Japan" everywhere. It brought its certificate of inspection, One year warranty certificate, User's manual and others paper stuff in English/Japanese. **Q: Can you confirm that the rotating thimble, or any other major component is made of plastic on this model as noted by one reviewer? Thanks!** A: The rotating thimble is metallic. The small safety lever is plastic. The small part where the ratchet is rotated is also plastic. As far as I know, Mitutoyo produce very high quality products this is a nice Micrometer.
