Root Mushroom Farm-Shiitake Grow Kit

This kit was very good, we got a lot of mushrooms

About 10 years ago probably 20 years ago, my daughter gave me one of these for my birthday, and I have never seen anything like it and I told her and this is still true to this very day that this is the best present anyone ever gave me. I followed the instructions and within two days I had mushrooms popping out and within three days I had larger mushrooms, popping out, and within four days I was overwhelmed with delicious shiitake mushrooms. They were almost like eating meat, tender meat. I really enjoy this and I hope after I harvest all the mushrooms Truman, the more come back. Absolutely amazing and enjoyable.

It was fun to watch and it grew so fast in my Martha tent. Would definitely buy again!

Instructions said 55 to 75 best temp. Also low humidity is a problem so if you have air or heat on you most likely will have low humidity. I had hoped I could keep it in the washroom to keep cats out of it but these mushrooms need light, but not direct sunlight and the house humidity is low. The log arrived at a time we had a lot of rain and the temp range was good for growing so I set log out on screen porch. Unfortunately, temps will soon be hitting 80 and above so it would be too hot for me to even think about ordering another. I have had to bring the log in 3 nights and put in washroom because temps dropped to below 50. In the mornings, I put it back on porch. The mushrooms are thriving but because they are so much trouble I would not order again. If you have the time and right air and light, you might enjoy the experience.

Great gift for my dad! It produced so many mushrooms. He loved trimming off the mushrooms and cooking em up!

My kit was delivered on 2/11. Today is 2/18 . Fantastic crop of shiitakes growing. Could harvest a few already... very sturdy sawdust log fully colonized with gorgeous shrooms. 10 stars if I could give that rating but 5 will have to do. Will buy again.

We were able to get one harvest but that has been it. What we did get were big and beautiful with lovely taste. Just a bit disappointed that it has been several weeks and no new growth.

The kit is actually pretty simple. It is a pre partially colonized log of sorts. The only thing you have to worry about is the required temps of 55-60 degrees and misting adequately. Generally you want to have gloves and isopropyl alcohol (70%) available yo clean your hands prior to handling the log to minimize the chances of contamination. Otherwise its a good kit to start your mushroom journey with. Once fully colonized and pinning you are set.
